[@Huckleberry1911], oye! Unfortunately, we have a lot of players who want to play Loners, which has caused us to put a cap on the option unless more players enter the game as Greasers or Survivors. As the game does have a plot, too many Loners will cause the game to turn into a wide-range sandbox and overly forced coincidences in order to make it succeed. 

Survivors can leave the compound, but it is not advised--if you are worried about having a character stuck in a Safety Shelter.  Another option is going ahead and pegging another player who is interested in being a Greaser and brainstorming relations. Both GMs and a couple other players have Greaser concepts in the works. 

Oh, and multiple characters (up to three) are allowed.
