@ELGainsborough, I think it would be in our best interest to carry on for the time being, with or without @Yamazaki's response and just assuming their character. You still have my pledge.

I was assuming the same. If they have fell out without a word that is fine. Unacceptable but fine. I can't force people to practice social nicities. If something happened that is fine. They can jump back in when and if they decide to return. On any accord, given a bout of food poisoning that struck yesterday as well as the Thanksgiving Holiday tomorrow I may hold off on posting - which is to assume that I cannot get something in this evening. The thread will move forward. I do pose a question as to whether or not you would like to take control of the Spellthief since I am meandering about with the Ranger and the Cleric. If that is acceptable, it would be your move anyway given the Tiger's initiative is next in line.

If you do not post on behalf of the spellthief by this evening when I am awake again, @ELGainsborough, I will just assume her character for the time being. From there, I will give her post then that of the animal companion and we will press on from the sound of it. Once we have an opportunity, I will surrender her character to just up and exit - that way you do not need to play three characters and Dungeon Master and so we can make room for what will hopefully be more active people.

That sounds fine. Keep the spellthief around until the end of the first dungeon crawl. Then she can jump off to resume her spellthief life on the island. Once we finish, I will repost the interest check and try to get more poeple active. I imagine the lack of immediacy is difficult for some to play. I know I have difficulty sometimes with it.

But what you purpose is just fine.

While I can understand their difficulties, the concept apappls in both directions. The sooner they are to post and respond the sooner others can and rightfully should. Disappointing to see more vanish, but such is the way things go here.

Expect my work to be done in the morning.

Alright, so I've posted. I apologize for the wait. I was finding it difficult to find some inspiration. On any accord, I think keeping my posts short rather than trying to puff them up with flowery prose as if writing a novel or a post for another thread works better in the long run. I will try my best to keep things interesting when the opportunity presents itself. I hope it doesn't ruin things.

Maybe you can shed some light on the matter @The Harbinger of Ferocity, why is Keris' long spear gaining a +6 bonus to damage? Essentially, where is the additional +2 coming from? Not that it would matter for the sake of the dead elf but it may matter in the future. Any insight?

On another note... I've heard contact from @Aristo on a Discord chat that I'm apart of for another role playing thread. He is dealing with real life stuff. Which is fine as I am sure we can all agree. However, for future reference a thirty second post to say "hey, I'm rl busy might be a while before I am active again" would have been appreciated as stated previous.

I can understand your matter of wanting less elaborate posts - I do not hold it against you. To answer your question however, given the weapon Keris is using, a two-handed longspear, she receives one and one-half times her Strength modifier to its damage, which from the bonus of +4 is how she managed the +6 to damage. At first I did not believe one could do that, as I have only see martial and exotic weapons used that way, but there is in fact nothing stopping her from doing so. It is a clever tactic I will try to make use of in the future for some of my characters, using simple weapons like that.

For combat most of my replies will be more "to the point" because I do not exactly want to call shots or make out events that otherwise are not going on. So in that regard I certainly do understand, @ELGainsborough.

That is correct. I remember reading that. The only thing I would wonder is whether or not a Spellthief gets the weapon proficiency as a bonus feat? If you look through the feats in the PHB3.5 a lot of the feats are given to classes without them necessarily needed to be taken. As of now, I'm not too worried about it. We'll keep moving forward.

Interestingly enough, they have less proficiencies than the rogue class. Which also brings to light the fact I never thought of, let alone have seen, a rogue using a quarterstaff, longspear or similar two-handed simple weapon. You could even do the same with any weapon that is at least one-handed but not light to gain the one and one-half times bonus from Strength.

I guess I will have to be creative with this knowledge in the future, @ELGainsborough.

Of course I do. I've just been busy. I was sick for a couple days. I've developed tennis elbow which I can only presume is somehow related to either my physical position while writing or my gaming habits so that has been painful since I can't really rest it while working. But I do plan on continuing this. In fact, I will be working on my post immediately.

I imagine the replies are slow coming owing to the holidays, @ELGainsborough?
