CS
Name:Reginald Alexander Dorvain Age: 21 Appearance: Bio TBW, as I have to talk to Loony a bit to see if we're still going with #1 brOTP of Eve and Reggie. Reggie is the super-genius son of the current technology mogul, Marcus Dorvain. He was born with a almost super-human talent for understanding, redefining, and conceptualizing technologies, one that grew more and more prominent as he grew. In the early stages of his life, there were little, if any problems. While his father was rather distant and played little into his son's life, Reggie's elder brother Percival(or Percy, as he liked to be called) filled in the role well enough. An army man, he was somebody who Reggie absolutely idolized in his youth, and such made it all the more heart-wrenching when he heard about how his brother died while on duty in the middle east from an I.E.D explosion. Struck with grief, 8-year old Reggie went to his father for comfort, only to be rebutted with a cold look and dismissive turn. Ever since that day, Reggie has tried desperately to get his father's attention and praise with his inventions, trying day after day to gain something from the old man. However, all he got was empty words and money thrown his way, never any of the love of affection that he so deeply craved. To this day, Reggie has never heard his father even him address him as 'Son', not once, and while he likes to act like his father's attitude doesn't bother him, it was the original driving force for his inventing and will always be a thorn in his side. Speaking of inventing, Reggie is great at it, great at reverse engineering gem-tech as well. He has a knack for figuring out how the systems work, especially after he used a dusty old gem fragment he found to produce his Gem Interface matrix, a glove that he always wears which allows him to trick the system's into think ing he's a gem by using the energy signature of the shard. Early renditions of the device were finicky, however, and even nowadays, it's a bit of a crap-shoot as to whether or not the thing will even work at all. This device, which won his father national prestige and fame because you can't say that a 16 year-old was able to make such a thing, is something that he keeps the plans to locked away tight in his head, no matter how much people ask him for. Reason? Gem Tech is some scary shit, and he doesn't trust any of the corporate head honcho's all over the world to gain access to it. That being said, he still helps his dad with integrating these systems into American Military. He does this because A)if he's cooperative, he doesn't have to worry about getting kidnapped by our government and other governments, and B) daddy issues. He really does this all to please his dad in some way or another, though in recent years, he's kind of grown detached from this desire, beginning to see how pointless it all really is, as well as how much he's kinda suffered as a human being because of his obsession. Which brings us to Reggie's school life, which was terrible whenever he went almost all the time. You see, being as smart as Reggie was, he was often ahead of everyone else in the class, and goofed off a lot because of boredom. This caused teachers to think he was begin difficult and to instantly dislike him. It also led to him either getting bullied a lot by other kids who felt inferior or felt that he was using his daddy's money to get by in life, or to get used by others. Throughout his school career, he was often either the butt of some cruel joke or prank, or being led around by some cheerleaders or muscle heads who said they wanted to be 'friends' but just stuck him with their homework and were waiting for him to inherit his father's fortune. School sucked and, by entering middle school, he was about ready to just drop-out and go work in his lab forever. . . that is, until he met his friend Carmen, a fellow inventor of things, as well as a fellow outcast because of him being an albino, among other things. It started off with Reggie making what was likely some offensive comment about how Carmen looked like a Gem, and spiraled into life-long friendship. Carmen, being more social-grounded then Reggie could ever hope to be, helped him come out of his shell and gradually ge tmore comfortable talking with people, though he never quite lost his quirks. In return, Reggie gave Carmen lot's of advice, resources for building cool shit, and connections to cool intern ships, as well as first dibs on trying out some of his cooler stuff. Said stuff also comes with the propensity for exploding and or back-firing a bit or causing strange, usually temporary side-effects, however, so it was something best left denied when whatever gizmo he worked up seemed a bit fishy. Any way, with both of them now in college, Reggie more so he can hang out with Carmen then anything else, they compete in all manner of cool projects together. One of the latest was using old gem-tech Reggie had found in a nearby kindergarten to make an improved hover-board of sorts. It's still in the testing phase, but results have been promising and the need to wear safety gear diminishing. Unfortunately, Reggie still needs a few things to make the hover-board really work right, and that going to require more forays into the Kindergarten. Eh, what's the worst that could possible happen, these places have been dead for centuries, if not millennia. The chance of anything bad happening on this trip were just overwhelming miniscule . . so why did he still have a bad feeling in his chest. Other: Gear:
Gem Interface Matrix: Let's him use Gem stuff around 45-50% of the time Hover-board prototype: Good for short distance travel or when you need to make a jump, but still a bit finicky at the best of times, so relying on it to run from a monster, not a good idea. Gem-boosted Taser gun: Take Taser gun, plug in Gem Power crystal, watch as watermelons get blown to bits, wonder why you haven't destroyed it yet, remember that popping watermelons is fun. Can of Pepper-Spray: Because the Taser is out of the question for any non-fruit/vegetable he comes across. Cutting Edge gaming laptop: Top of the line with graphics so fine Handy-haversack: Not a real handy-haver sack, you've yet to invent that. However, it does auto-organize things for you, so that's cool. Full of books, various tools for scavenging gem tech, and a book on gem identification, so he can see if he can identify any loose shards he finds. In Sensory mode, they're Sera's prime method of gathering visual sensory information, or 'sight'. She is effectively blind until she can summon her wings, of which there are three levels of power for. These are indicated by the number of wings a Seraphinite possesses. 2 wings: 360 degree vision, parascopic vision(she can zoom in like a camera), and higher levels of mental processing power to deal with the constant influx of information from so many angles. 4 wings:TBD 6 wings:TBD When switched to Combat Protocol, the wings lose their sensory capabilities in exchange for use as offensive and defensive systems, as well as giving sight back to Sera's regular eyes, so as not to leave her at a significant disadvantage. The energy that makes up the wings shifts into a solid, durable metallic substance that is capable of fusing with a willing Gem Body, strengthening it's defensive and offensive capabilities. The substance's natural state is liquid, and thus, is able to change form fluidly and swiftly, and if it ever leaves Sera's control, returns to it's liquid state. The substance is also programmable, just like a Gem's energy body, and thus can be given simple commands such as 'Attack', 'Defend', or 'Return'. More complex instructions can be given at higher levels, but not by any greatly varying degrees. Level 1(2 Wings, though often referred to as 'Wingless'): At this level, enough substance is created to form Sera's armor, which not only provides a good amount of defensive capabilities, especially against environmental hazards and energy-based attacks thanks to the refractive shielding and filtration systems, but it also can shift the Gem body in such a way that the arms and legs can be turned into simple, close-range weapons, such as blades, and back again. These give Sera a great deal of flexibility in combat when it comes to engagements, as well as possibly surprising the enemy. Note: The wings can also be used in a purely offensive fashion, changing into large, simple blades that can be swung around telekinetically, but given the weak constitution of the base Seraphim form, this is not a likely course of action to expect from a fully-functioning Seraphinite Enforcer. Level 2(4 Wings): Level 3(6 Wings): Note that since Sera's weapon is essentially her power, she won't have access to anything but 2 wings at the start. Any added powers she grows into will come from her wings Powers: Seraphinites lack a concrete definition of powers, so to speak, but instead have more highly functional weapons than most gems to make up for this deficit. Also unlike most gems, all Seraphinites have the same weapon, their wings, but the aesthetics of these wings and higher level abilities are variable between each and every individual unit. Other: Seraphinites are the enforcers and Top-class guardians of the Diamond authority, built with one design objective in mind: Seek and Destroy. To facilitate this philosophy, their form is split between to systems. The Sensory system abilities tend to focus less on combat and more on information gathering, higher sensory awareness, and scouting. As the base system that Seraphinites take, it also has all of the personality systems in place, enabling them to make good secondary leaders with excellent judgement calls, reading the flow of the battle with utmost accuracy and giving their advice to the commandant in charge. Alternatively, there comes the point where they must seek out the conflicts that they find, and this is where the Combat system;s take over. Sensory information is minimized to the workable minimum, personality is limited to the absolute minimum, memory is stored away till Sensory is reactivated, and the target(s) are identified When Combat Protocol is activated, the Seraphinite will activate it's energy conversion matrix to form the Specialized material of Seraphinium, infuse it into the fragile base form to bring it up to code for a warrior gem, and engage the foe until either they are subdued. This gem will feel no pain, will feel no fear, will have no sense of true self-presevation, only harm avoidance to keep it fighting longer. They will keep in fighting and fighting and fighting until they are shattered/poofed. They no longer are a Gem, but a highly-tuned battle machine that will only stand down when commanded by their given commander, which leads into another component of the Seraphinites. When a Seraphinite is deployed, they have two designations that they are compelled to make: A Designated Superior and a designated Person/place of interest. The Superior has complete control over the Serpahinite unit while they are under Combat Protocol, with the only way to override their command being the authority of a Diamond. Even when not in Combat Protocol, the words of the Superior holds a certain amount of weight in the Seraphinite's mind, and it takes a lot of will power to resist the urge to obey. The P.o.I is something that the Seraphinite must protect at all cost, including it's own life. Often, when said P.o.I is placed in danger, that is when Combat Protocol is initiated, after sufficient data has been obtained. The desire to protect the P.o.I. is the only other thing that can interfere with the order of the Superior, if the two happen to be at odds with each other. If such a thing does occur, then the unit is often given to lean towards their main directive in these cases, which is to protect their objective. However, this isn't a sure thing, as it happens about half of the time, while the other half results in the system following the orders of the Superior.
