I understand the characters have been in suspended animation/hibernation for 100+ years, but has this process; used for the space travel suspended physiological growth? Do the characters remain the age they were when the started the journey?
Also if I may, I'd like to make a character with a PhD MD in Biomechanical Engineering with advanced knowledge in Cybernetics and Robotics used in the advancement of prosthetic augmentations as well as advances in Automaton engineering. If this won't work let me know.
I find it amusing that you offer this suggestion, simply because I was thinking the same thing yesterday while driving. [@HeySeuss] mentioned to me that it was OK to make my character a veteran. Then I remembered this Supply Sergeant I knew in the Army National Guard who was also a Doctor of Prosthesis. I was contemplating using him as a basis for a character. I asked the Sergeant why he did not become an officer in Medical Services. He explained that his NG job was fun and didn't require a whole lot of thought or worry. It was something fun. If he became an officer he would have worry about something. Since he had enough of that in his Civilian career, he didn't need it in his "hobby". Having served as both an enlisted man and an officer, I could relate to his response and the conversation ended. Anyway, I can choose another profession. I mentioned Geology and biology earlier. I may remain there and deviate slightly, but I can still make him a veteran. I had a BA at age 25 instead of 22 like most who come out off HS ang go right to college because I spent 3 years in the US Army. This can work.
