IN this case it could be an unintended consequence of the suspended animation process. There was a ST:TNG episode in 1992 where retired Commander Montgomery Scott's molecules were suspended in a transporter beam until the Enterprise-D came along and completed the beam bring him back alive after 75 years in "stasis". Not the same thing, I know, but at least his appearance remained unchanged over that 75 year period. Am I grasping here?
