F: Improve Resources

Good. They had a militia now, and they were taking in steady harvests. Old Matem had been made from stone and clay; white-washed villas with quant red roofs, and the environment here was perfect. The small fleet they had arrived on was enough to get to and from the mainland, and so building materials were the most pressing issue.

They had had a surveying team with them on the boats as a matter of fact, a stroke of luck that the owner of Haeitus Mines had fled from the war, along with various family and friends. Already, he had been recruited into the senate, and his men had proved invaluable in assisting the construction of a quarry.

The area had already been surveyed. There had been some minor excavation to find out the time of stone, and there had been a cheer when the results had come in. Clay, yes, but better than clay, dolomite and marble. The first for cheap constructions, the latter for the great ones.

And the first of tne great ones had already been started. Maxim watched as the scaffolding was erected in preparation for the marble. The forum, juet like the one in the old city. The grand basilica, the center of governance and law, banks... Maxim could see it all, but cor now they were waiting for the quarries to be finished.
