Magic has always been rightfully feared and venerated for it's power. It's why people like Vesta and her family are part of the nobility and known. But for Malakaus, magic was just a tool, and those who rely so much on it are fools. Malakaus didn't bother to dodge Zin's breath of fire, nor did he falter when he was blasted with it. At this range he couldn't really afford too anyways. No, instead when Zin blasted him with fire, he merely angled his head downward for the flames to heat up the crown of his helmet instead. Unlike some knights who made their glory with weapons, Malakaus used his armor. The Mad Man's Plate was no stranger to great immolation, and even if yesterday's bout with the mysterious madman managed to melt the armor, it required a very powerful spell and it still allowed Malakaus to survive the attack. Zin's fire breath wasn't any better. When Zin detached herself from Vesta, Malakaus stood between the two and drew his axe. "There will not be a next time, you delusional slattern. You not only assaulted Vesta Celestia, heir of the noble house of Celestia, but also attack and threaten a knight of Lugnica. I have no patience for pitiful grudges. You can either vow to reform yourself here and now, or we can fight to the death as you so desire." Nothing in Malakaus's tone suggested that this was a threat or a joke. As Zin had pretty much attacked him with her fire breath as he was trying to get her off Vesta, she had signed her own warrant of arrest. And Malakaus being the knight he is, does not keep prisoners, but executes them. Only if Zin promises to change her act would he consider her no longer a threat to consider, but in the great likelihood that Zin simply attacks or refuses, Malakaus was more than ready to battle her.
