Devil Slaying Magic is a lost magic like its God and Dragon slayer counterparts. The user slowly submits to madness, in this case better known as insanity as their soul taints due to the function of the magic to kill demons and the Slayer's very conviction to kill them. There is no actual proof that Devil Slayers learn the magic from a demon and this will remain a theory even though Devil Slayers are said to be capable of demonizing and have a demon form. To learn the magic is by all means through books or by inheritance from predecessors passing down the magic to its successors.

It's more potent compare to Dragon and God Slaying magics due to the fact of its instantaneous effects such as instant/flash freezing, flash burning and such properties have proven extremely difficult to be thwarted by normal use of magic. However, the instantaneous effects and slayer advantages can be countered by a Mage of a higher caliber that specialize in the element itself which renders the Devil Slayer in extreme difficulty since they could not eat the element of the latter in spite of it being their own element, unlike dragon slayers, Devil Slayers could never gain a second element and never will. The power of the Devil Slayer is not limited to its element but its resistance to demon's curses, they can absorb it and convert it into Cursed Mode which warrants the Devil Slayer's magic reserves and status to have an exponential increase tenfold, their magic will become menacing as a result as it boosts all status. Not to mention, Devil Slayers each have Devil's Eye, it allows them to see through unusual patterns of curses, the eyes can see mana color/curse color and vital points.

In the long run, Devil Slaying Magic's full potential remains an enigma. It never has shown the ability to invoke Devil Force nor Secret Arts like it's God and Dragon Slayer counterparts. One way of prolonging the madness is a compatible element or an entirely different magic. There was once an Ice Make who used Ice Make Molding Magic to mold his Ice Devil Slaying Magic. Like all slayers, Devil Slayers have no capability of shaping their own element though this can be bypassed with the usage of Molding Magic, Devil Slayers is and will never have such tenacity nor creativity to shape their magic because Slayer Magic is all about pure destruction capacity and fire power than the Molding Magic's creativity and precision.

The process of insanity have long lasting effects and can affect the character, the more they use the magic. It will trigger the character to make irrational decisions on certain events like losing a friend, disputes etc. A perfect example would be Gray's obsession on killing E.N.D.

I will continue to update more about the magic once Hiro Mashima shows more feats because the manga still has loose ends about the magic such as how it is really learned, other feats etc. Better to stick with canon material. Personally speaking, I don't see the need of secret arts though it's inevitable because Hiro Mashima will eventually show Gray using one.

Dragon Slayers do not exist here since they are ridiculously OP and piece of trash backstory. God Slayers won't exist either since they are fodder piece of [color=ed1c24][u][H1]MONGRELS![/H1][/u][/color]
