Just a correction, Vanessa isn't pointing her gun at the big guy, she's holding it by the barrel with the barrel pointed towards the floor. It's actually one of the safer ways to hold a gun since firing them into the air can kill people miles away. (What goes up must come down.)

She did load it, but she's not openly threatening the big guy with it. That'd make her the antagonist to the situation. She's not looking to start a fight.
