Jason "Phoenix" Diabolus | Squad Sigma Pilot

After being dismissed from the meeting, Jason had gone to a place he had found him spending increasing amounts of time as of late; the framewerk hanger. He found a certain peace among the massive war machines, particularly with Ribasu. Not to mention, assisting in the maintenance of Ribasu provided a certain distraction from recent events. Something that he found much welcome given the current situation. In the time between training, Jason spent a majority of his time observing the others in his squad. Trying to get a feel for how they all interacted with each other. It was certainly a bit different than the relationship between Doom had been, and he'd have to get used to working with a new group all over again. The highlight of the past for days were the times spent in the simulators, as it gave Jason a good idea of what the others were capable of doing. Something he liked to keep in mind, as old habits from his previous position as squad leader definitely died hard. Either way, the day came when they were to be sent back out to take the fight to the Cruxi. Standing in the back of the room, as he had when they originally met Elise, Jason listened carefully to what they were told. In the back of his mind, a flurry of possible scenarios for the upcoming fight flashed through his mind. Surely the Cruxi would've detected a signal coming from Elora. While he wasn't fond of the aliens, he definitely thought of them as more than competent enough to detect signals from inside their station. He had no doubt that this was going to be a trap, and they would be going headlong into the Cruxi. Not something that he envied so much. Still, the boy remained silent in the back of the briefing room as others asked their questions, with Zim asking what had just been on Jason's mind. The response to Zim's question seemed a bit... lacking to Jason. But at the same time, he understood the need to recover their squadmate. One thing that did grab his attention, however, was the mention of the assault packs. With only two of them being approved for usage in the upcoming battle, he began thinking about the possible applications of such packs. Utilizing these could certainly prove useful in both grabbing the attention of the enemy, as well as lightening up the resistance. Although he was fairly confident that focus from the Cruxi would be on those employing the assault packs. Bigger threats and all that, it would make sense to try to eliminate the heavy hitters right out of the gates. With a small nod, Jason decided he would volunteer to use one of these packs. With the additional fire incoming, Ribasu's extra armor would likely prove useful in the upcoming fight. Once the briefing was over, Jason made his way to Elise and gave the girl a quick salute. "Sergeant, Pilot Diabolus. I'd like to volunteer to use one of the assault packs. Ribasu's heavy armor should be able to hold out a bit longer against any additional incoming fire that those employing the packs might experience." He explained, before falling silent as he waited to hear her reply. He hoped she wouldn't take his explanation as an insult to her intelligence, the boy had simply figured that coming forward to volunteer with no reason would seem a bit irresponsible on his part.
