Nice thread you got here guys, mind if I happen to plop on in? This is a theme I think would make for some interesting entries and interpretations:

I sort of toyed around with this idea once in my, sadly, [url=http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/157581-tooth-and-claw-sci-fi-pit-fighting-and-societal-war-for-good-measure-hi/ooc?page=2#post-4083035]failed RP[/url], but the jist of it is: Is it a person, or a thing? [sub][i](of course, that's just one interpretation)[/i][/sub]. I could see a lot of interesting sci-fi and fantasy implications for writing using this theme, like humans encountering the orcish species and saying [i]"Well, shoot. Are they people or animals?"[/i]. Some bonus categories I thought up for this theme are:[list]
[*][b]I m-made this?:[/b] Who knew that mixing glucose and sodium made an intelligent life-form!
[*][b]They're not one of us anymore:[/b] The loss of loved ones can be heartbreaking, especially when they become something completely unfathomable.

[*][b]Something broke on the inside:[/b] Horrible is the crippling of mind, body, and soul: more so for those watching.[/list]
