[CENTER][hider=History of the Digital World][I]In the beginning, Yggdrasil formed the Digital World and filled it with life, calling his creations "Digimon". For a time there was peace. But, as in many tales, evil rose up to conquer the world in the form of the Seven Great Demon Lords, led by Lucemon. Despite overwhelming odds Lucemon's brother, Seraphimon, defeated the Demon Lords, and banished them to Purgatory for their actions. Once again the Digital World was at peace, led by the Three Celestial Digimon-- Seraphimon, Ophanimon, and Cherubimon. Seeing their strength and wisdom, Yggdrasil left the Digital World in their hands and departed for another realm.


In the hundredth year of their reign, a terrible disease swept through the Digital World known as the "Falldown Virus". Once infected, Digimon were wild and violent, wishing only for destruction and war. And not even the Celestial Digimon were immune. During an attempt to quell the fighting Seraphimon was infected, and he infected his friend Cherubimon and his lover Ophanimon. Once infected the three turned on each other, and in one, final battle, killed each other.


For the longest time the Digital World was in ruin, its inhabitants fighting for even the most basic resources to survive. But from the chaos came the Olympos XII, twelve Digimon with the power to unite the people. The Digimon praised them as gods, forgetting Yggdrasil. But in the 500th year of the Olympos XII's rule, their creator returned. Enraged that his people had forgotten him, Yggdrasil came to Plutomon, Jupitermon and Neptunemon's younger brother. He convinced Plutomon that he could rule the Digital World, so long as he would allow Yggdrasil to be known as god once again. 


A terrible civil war ravaged the Digital World, pitting the members of the Olympos XII against each other. Neptunemon, Ceresmon, Marsmon, Apollomon, Bacchusmon, and Merukimon joined Plutomon, while Dianamon, Junomon, Mervamon, Venusmon, and Vulcanusmon followed Jupitermon. In the end, however, Plutomon betrayed all of them, creating Titamon to wipe them out. What he did not know, however, was Titamon's loyalty to Yggdrasil. With the Olympos XII defeated, Titamon turned on Plutomon, and killed him.


In the aftermath, Yggdrasil helped restore the Digital World, and created ten Digimon to lead the different races, who came to be known as the Ten Legendary Warriors: AncientGreymon, leading the Dragon Digimon; AncientGarurumon, leading the Beast Digimon; AncientBeetlemon, leading the Insect Digimon; AncientKazemon, leading Bird Man and Fairy Digimon; AncientMegatheriummon, leading the Mammal and Icy Snow Digimon; AncientSphinxmon, leading the Legendary Beast and Demon Beast Digimon; AncientVolcamon, leading the Ore and Mineral Digimon; AncientTroiamon, leading the Plant Digimon; AncientMermaidmon, leading the Aquatic Digimon; and AncientWisemon, leading the Machine and Mutant Digimon. The Digital World prospered once more, with yearly competitions held between the different races to foster friendship and commerce.


During a competition, the unthinkable happened: Lucemon escaped from Purgatory, now stronger after killing and absorbing his fellow Demon Lords. His new form, Shadowlord Mode, gave him the power to easily defeat the Ten Legendary Warriors. In one final gambit nine of the Warriors gave their lives by being absorbed by AncientGreymon, who underwent Ancient Spirit Evolution and became Susanoomon. With the power of his living weapon, the ZERO-ARMS: Orochi, Susanoomon finally slew Lucemon before succumbing to his own injuries. Inspired by the courage displayed by the Legendary Warriors, a lone Digimon Warp Digivolved into Imperialdramon Paladin Mode, and founded the Royal Knights.


The thirteen knights, Alphamon, Omnimon, Craniamon; Gallantmon, Magnamon, Dynasmon; Crusadermon, UlforceVeedramon, Kentaurosmon; Leopardmon, Examon, Gankoomon, and Jesumon were tasked with protecting the Digital World from any and all threats. For two centuries the Royal Knights fulfilled the wish of their founder. But one day all thirteen just vanished. No battle, no trace of them. It was as if the knights had never existed. With their protectors gone, Digimon grew afraid. And so they isolated themselves according to their kind: Beast, Knight, Nature, Holy, and Dark. Fear gave way to distrust, distrust to hate. Before long, another war had started.


Saddened by the Digimon's misguided ways, Yggdrasil made a drastic decision to involve humans in the war. The first was summoned years ago, and groomed to the task. But others are needed, and Yggdrasil has decided that they are needed now.[/I][/hider]

1- First and foremost, any and all forum rules apply.
2- Please be respectful to other Tamers! This means no spamming, no flaming, and no arguing. If a disagreement comes up, please take it to PM.
3- This RP is rated PG for violence, mild language, and perhaps some [S]nosebleed-worthy moments[/S] innuendo and such.
4- In terms of post length, we're flexible here; a paragraph or more is good, but short posts may also be necessary for the RP to flow, or if there's just a lack of creativity.
5- Don't snipe posts. By this, I mean no posting every single time someone posts after you. If nobody has posted for, say, a few days, this rule is null and void.

[hider=Races]In the Digital Worlds there are five races: Beast, Knight, Nature, Holy, and Dark. The game works in a rock-paper-scissors kind of way.
[CENTER]- [B]Beast[/B] is strong against Nature, but weak against Knight. Embodies Digimon similar to Greymon, Garurumon, etc.
- [B]Nature[/B] is strong against Knight, but weak against Beast. Includes Digimon like Aquilamon, Arbormon, etc.
- [B]Knight[/B] is strong against Beast, but weak against Nature. Includes machine and knight Digimon, such as Locomon and Knightmon.
-[B] Holy[/B] is strong against Dark, but also weak to it. Includes fairy, angel, and otherwise holy-esque Digimon.
- [B]Dark[/B] is strong against Holy, but also weak to it. Includes demon, fallen angel, and supernatural-esque Digimon.[/CENTER][/hider]

[hider=Attribute]Attribute is a computer file the Digimon represents, and can differentiate between individuals of the same species. This acts as a secondary typing in battle.
[CENTER]- [B]Vaccine[/B] is strong against Virus, but weak against Data. Most Holy-type Digimon fall into this category.
- [B]Virus[/B] is strong against Data, but weak against Vaccine. Most Dark-type Digimon fall into this category.
- [B]Data[/B] is strong against Vaccine, but weak against Virus. A whole myriad of Digimon fall into this category.
- [B]Free[/B] is a rarer typing, and usually only applies to Armor-level Digimon, but can also encompass other species. Deals and takes normal damage against all types.
- [B]Variable[/B] is unique to species related to the Ten Legendary Warriors. This type changes to match its opponent and only deals half damage; however, they also take half damage.
- [B]Unknown[/B] applies to many young Digimon, as well extremely powerful species like Apocalymon.[/CENTER][/hider]

[hider=Level]All Digimon are assigned a different level, based on their strength and evolution stage.
[CENTER]- [B]Fresh[/B] is the first stage. Extremely weak.
- [B]In-Training[/B] is the second stage. Stronger than Fresh Digimon, but still unsuited for real battles.
- [B]Rookie[/B] is the third stage. Perhaps the most widely known stage. Some Rookie-type Digimon can take on Champion-levels with help.
- [B]Champion[/B] is the fourth stage. Champion Digimon are strong enough to battle on their own, but become stronger with their Tamer.
- [B]Ultimate[/B] is the fifth stage. Ultimate Digimon are some of the most powerful, and is usually the highest level a Digimon can attain without a Tamer.
- [B]Mega[/B] is the sixth stage. Mega Digimon are exceedingly rare, and considered to be the most powerful Digimon.
- [B]Ultra[/B] is an unofficial seventh stage. Few Digimon can attain this level, and the only ones that have a Tamer can attain it, if their bond is strong enough.
- [B]Armor[/B] is an alternative stage between Champion and Ultimate, as well as Ultimate and Mega. This stage ALWAYS requires a Digimental ("DigiEgg") to attain.
- [B]Hybrid[/B] is an "artificial" stage related to the Ten Legendary Warriors. This is further broken down into more stages: [U]Human Hybrid[/U] is comparable to Champion; [U]Beast Hybrid[/U] is comparable to Ultimate; [U]Fusion Hybrid[/U] is comparable to Mega in power; [U]Unified Hybrid[/U] is comparable to Ultra.[/CENTER][/hider]

[hider=Digivolving]Digivolution is the process of a Digimon changing into a stronger form. However there are many types of Digivolution. While Digivolution is often permanent in Digimon without Tamers, Tamer-bound Digimon can temporarily attain stronger forms. Listed are different types of Digivolution. [CENTER]- [B]Dark Digivolution[/B] occurs when a Tamer Digivolves their partner with dark feelings. In this stage, these Digimon are wild and violent.
- [B]Super Digivolution[/B] involves a Rookie Digimon skipping the Champion stage and Digivolving straight to Ultimate.
- [B]Warp Digivolution[/B] involves a Rookie Digimon bypassing both Champion and Ultimate levels to Mega.
- [B]DNA Digivolution[/B] involves two separate Digimon being "fused" together.
- [B]Armor Digivolution[/B] requires Digimental to attain. More often than not, Rookie or Champion Digimon use this to attain stronger forms, however, some Digimentals Digivolve a partner to Mega-level power.
- Some Digimon can [B]Mode Change[/B] to other forms. For example, Imperialdramon can attain Dragon Mode, Fighter Mode, and Paladin Mode. Some Mode Changes have specific requirements.
- [B]Slide Evolution[/B] is reserved solely for Hybrid Digimon, allowing a Digimon to freely change from Human Hybrid to Beast Hybrid, and vice versa.
- [B]Fusion Evolution[/B] is reserved solely for Hybrid Digimon, allowing a Digimon to fuse their two forms to create a stronger one.
- [B]Unified Spirit Evolution[/B] is reserved solely for Hybrid Digimon. This allows a temporary fusion of five Legendary Spirit sets.
- [B]Ancient Spirit Evolution[/B] is only known to occur when a Hybrid Digimon attains all other Spirits. The only Digimon capable of this is Susanoomon.
- [B]Burst Digivolution[/B] is a rare phenomenon, allowing a Mega-level Digimon to temporarily attain Ultra-level power.
- [B]X-Digivolution[/B] occurs when a Digimon contracts the X-Antibody. This is more of a metamorphosis than true Digivolution, resulting in a stronger Digimon.[/CENTER][/hider]

[hider=Terminology]Much of the RP's terminology is borrowed from the shows, but can mean different things.
[CENTER]- [B]DigiFuse[/B] occurs when a Tamer strengthens their Digimon with data from defeated foes. Once a certain level has been attained, the Digimon can Digivolve to their next form.
- [B]Limit Break[/B] can only be attained by Mega-level Digimon. This is the only way to attain Ultra form.
- [B]Digi-Modification[/B] is the process in which a Tamer uses certain cards to power up their Digimon. For example, a Tamer can Digi-Modify certain attacks and traits from another Digimon. These are single-use, and new cards can be attained from battles.
- [B]Digimon Natural Ability (DNA)[/B] is what allows a Digimon to attain Burst Mode.
- [B]Race Cards[/B] are general-purpose cards that power up a Digimon's attacks.
- The [B]D-Bracer[/B] is the Digivice used. The D-Bracer is worn on the wrist, and holds cards, and is used to implement Digi-Modifications.
- [B]Bits[/B] are the currency of the Digital World. Bits can be gained by transferring data and defeating enemies.
- [B]Exp. Floppy Disks[/B] can be used in place of Digimon data to help a Digimon grow stronger. [U]Bronze[/U] Floppy Disks are the most common, but yield less experience; [U]Silver[/U] Floppy Disks are less common, but still can be found quite easily; [U]Gold[/U] Floppy Disks are the rarest, and yield the greatest amount of experience of any of the disks.
- A [B]Hard Drive[/B] is installed in every D-Bracer, and can be upgraded to hold more cards and data.[/CENTER][/hider]
