As I said, I already know that kids pick on other kids. I was just enquiring as to how they knew about it in such a large city, as it isn't explained anywhere about how much influence the Gems have on the city, either in the past or present, so we're left with nothing but assumptions. The ambiguity is great for our own personal world and character building, but I was just curious behind the explanation of children knowing of Gems, and then using it as an insult on a fellow classmate. However, I doubt anything about the Gem war would be in history books, other than speculation borne from the damage caused. There may be accounts left over by Gems, but if Steven can't translate their language, I doubt a regular human could either.
