Character Sheet

Name: Ruban Aquiar Age: 35 Legion/Warband/Chapter: Death Guard (new guy on board) Planet of Origin: Mordrian Physical Description:
Currently, Ruban is looking worse for wear with his skin slowly looking like it is coming off and his chest wound not truly healing past the rib cage and even that is still cracked. Patches of short, black hair covers his head some having already fallen out. Much of his muscle still remains but he has become bloated with disease, luckily his entrails are not hanging out like others of his kind. Ruban’s armor is dirty and the chest has a large hole from where the bolter had made contact. Some flies can be seen orbiting him at some point, though he tries to get rid of them by swatting them away, spoiler, it does not help.
Skillset:
Melee fighter - Having to deal with constant threats and not being able to feel pain, Plague marines are constantly fighting in melee. Normally they fight with crude and diseased swords, but Ruban has yet to adopt that aspect of them, choosing to fight with his standard Imperial Chainsword instead. Medic - Ironically, the beast who spreads disease can also help mend wounds of his comrades, though he no longer should continue his medical work because of the Plague Marines not actually being able to heal all the great wounds they might receive and being plague ridden. It has been a long while since he has had the need to help heal anyone, going back to his days as an Imperial Guard. Vehicle Operator - Ruban knows his way around a vehicle and knows how to drive many of them, specifically the Rhino which has been drilled into him by the Space Marines.
History:
The story of Ruban starts when he joined the Imperial Guard in order to prove himself not a coward, but he proved to be less than useful. The poor fool stumbled around the trenches, a mess who got in the way of his fellow soldiers who were actually fighting him. However, lucky was he, as he managed to survive thirty days on a front line in the face of a chaos attack, a rarity in the Imperial Guard. Naturally, Ruban was seen as a better asset in the eyes of the space marines who kidnapped him from the front line and put into the submission process, of course luck granted him through the screening due to the incompetence of the testers or the chapter was simply low on members. Ruban was immediately put through to the surgery, then the indoctrination. Whereas most Space Marines would become mindless warriors for the God-Emperor, Ruban did not but he had the sense to keep that to himself. He remained a part of the chapter for ten long years, suffering through dreaded pain which he could barely handle. Though, the perks were great as he was practically worshipped by the common man and he bathed in that glory. It was not until he began digging through vast libraries to become better at destroying Chaos that he began seeing of what these chaotic gods provided. Nurgle specifically interested Ruban, finding that the so called “Plague Marines” could feel no pain, something Ruban would love to have. He studied and studied, keeping to himself during those rare free times. With that, his chapter was transferred to Cadia in order to help defend against the Chaos threat. Ruban was among the first to land, he and his squad went through cutting down countless Chaos until a stray bolter round hit him squarely in chest, a wound which would prove lethal yet painful. As he lay there dying, Ruban uttered his loyalty to the Death Guard and prayed to Nurgle that he be spared from the pain of the or just kill him then and there. Ruban would receive the blessing of Nurgle, transforming him into a so called “Plague Marine.” He awoke after the battle to see that Chaos worshippers had dragged him back to their ship, originally as a prisoner. It was when they saw the rot begin to corrode the walls within the ship that they realized they had a plague marine on board. He was transferred, promptly, to the dreaded Plague Fleet of Typhus where he was then sent to attack Minoa lll. There he fought in the name of Nurgle, helping to spread plague and killing many others. Shortly, he was trapped on the planetary surface, leading him up to now.
Psychological Profile:
Ruban has always suffered from agliophobia, the fear of pain. In fact the phobia still affects him to this day despite the fact that it is physically cannot feel it anymore. Past that, Ruban is not one to really speak up, in fact he just kind of lets things happens and hardly does anything other than respond to what is presented to him. Unlike many of his old squad mates with the Space Marines, he is not zealous to any cause even though he has sworn allegiance to Nurgle (previously the God-Emperor). As well, Ruban is also what would be called a coward, not liking to stay in fights very often and runs like the dickens if he feels the fight is lost. As for standard personality, he is paranoid that something is going to kill him even though he will most likely die a painless death, an interesting psyche for one who is supposed to be relatively brave.
