Although playing a kurd from the YPJ would be a cool and unique character...
Doable concept. Though the YPJ is heavy on combat experience and light on training. So she'd be one of those recruits getting the most out of the training program run in French Guyana. Everything from, "This is how you shoot" to "refresher advanced underwater demolitions."
[@HeySeuss]So I'm thinking a Spetsnaz, likely forced into retirement due to political entanglements, signed on with the current PMC after having an old friend smuggle his gear out to him.
Honestly, the plot is such that the Grathik are not issuing human gear. They're manufacturing familiar items with much higher/different performance/tolerances using their materials to ease their mercs into more powerful weaponry. So that AK-74 would be firing the same caliber round and have similar handling characteristics, but the materials used to make it set it as a class apart. They are using human schematics as a guideline, to keep operation and maintenance familiar, but otherwise, improvement across the board. Anyway, they're also sort of standardizing a lot of the stuff for ease of logistics. It can't be a bunch of dudes running around with their nation's own gear, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Some Russian gear is getting added to the mix, but the list of equipment is generally based on considerations of performance and familiarity to their recruitment pool.
