These massive eye-shaped portals have spawned exotic creatures who terrorize innocents, demanding servitude. However, brave heroes are rising up, using these portals, known universally as "Outrealm Gates", to transcend time and space and unite with other valiant men and women to drive back this otherworldly threat. You have been recruited to the cause, brought from your homeland and time to a gloriously decorated Ylisstol in the heart of the United Halidom of Ylisse. It is a time of union for the continent of Archanea, ruled by the legendary Hero King's own granddaughter, Helia. As you are escorted to the great palace, a vibrantly dressed woman with navy-blue hair comes into view, perched atop a lofty balcony where all can see her. She is flanked by two spear-wielding guards in noble dress, and behind her stands a priest whose head is bowed as he holds out his staff, muttering words in an ancient language as the Barrier Staff in his hand resonates with energy. Throughout the courtyard, you begin to become more aware of the rather large number of wary soldiers with varying weapons, all appearing ready to spring into action should any unwelcome attackers appear. "Beautiful, isn't she?" the knight escorting you asks, gesturing to the regal woman. "That's her, Exalt Helia. Not a better queen in all of history, I'd reckon. None more beautiful, either." The knight stops short of a growing crowd of what appears to be ragtag soldiers-for-hire. Some look experienced, garbed with breastplates and the like and covered with calloused scars, while others seem to be peasants outfitted in makeshift armor of pots and pans. "You'll be with them," the knight explains. "You, along with the Knights of Ylisse, will be forming a new army from our combined ranks. Thought I heard the name 'Shepherds' being tossed around, but then again, that might have been just talking about some of these kids' past employment. Sure hope you hold up with that bravery we saw before. We'll need it to fight off those Outrealm Demons. Anyway, you run along and make some friends. You'll probably be seeing these men--er, and women, I s'pose--quite a bit in your travels." With that, the knight turns and leaves you, joining the other Knights of Ylisse at the watch, keeping a close eye on a distant Outrealm Gate that seems to stare eerily back, its cobalt gaze aimed right for Exalt Helia.

(Sorry I couldn't find a suitable pic for Marth's granddaughter, Helia. Working on it.) I have spent almost a year and a half struggling to design a Tabletop System that could properly emulate the Fire Emblem video game series, and now, I believe I have achieved this; all that remains is to test it with those brave enough to test your luck with such a strange entity, much like the heroes you will be playing. This game, unlike many Tabletop systems out there, runs on a d100 (or d%, if you'd rather) system. In fact, the 2 d10 (one to serve as a 1's place and one to serve as a 10's place) are all you need in terms of dice. Of course, you will also likely need a calculator, as though I will try to remove as much of the calculating you will have to do as possible, there will still be certain elements I cannot accommodate ahead of time. These are mostly Terrain, Weapon Triangle, and Support Bonuses that I cannot calculate into your Character Sheets. Instead, these have to be applied on a battle-by-battle basis. (For immobile enemy bosses, however, I will calculate Terrain bonuses into their Avoid rate ahead of time to simplify things a bit.) So why do we only use the d100? Simple. As stated above, my goal was to emulate Fire Emblem as closely as I could. That meant no randomized damage. However, in so doing, the dice are rolled a minimum of 2 times per attack (once for Hit and once for Critical, exceptions being for 100% rates in one or the other), with variance in the number of rolls based on certain factors. A list of all possible factors will be found below. For the majority of details regarding this Tabletop System, you can follow the large link above which reads "System Details - Google Spreadsheet", or the link that is almost always found in my signature beside the "Fire Emblem - Chalice of Dreams" header. To navigate the sheets, check the bottom of your window. There SHOULD be tabs for navigation, though some browsers apparently will block these by default somehow (according to some people I've spoken to). However, this process should be reversible, as everyone who initially saw them as being blocked has seemingly easily un-blocked it. This system includes elements for fans from all groups. For older fans, they will find that Weapon Durability (Dur) and Weight (Wt) exist in this. Also, many skills from the Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn games are seeing some action. For newer fans, the Pair Up system returns, and this time, like in Fates, enemies can benefit from it. (You may even find that some enemies have Support Levels built up) There are also Skills found in this system which newer fans can relate to as well. The branching Class Tree from Gaiden, Sacred Stones, Awakening, and Fates also appears, though newer fans may be disappointed to find that the Second Seal does not appear on the items list. This is because you are creating your own character. You can choose whatever class you like. You don't need the Second Seal to become the class you want your character to be, so I saw little reason or place for it. If someone can give me a good enough reason to include it, I might think about it, but until then, it is non-existent in this system. For the sake of this beta test, I have limited the use of certain classes that you may find hidden in the Spreadsheets. This ban also includes all promotional items that are not a Master Seal. Please note that one of the tags I have placed on this RP is "Casual". As a result, I would like for players to give more effort to their posts than simply placing what was rolled on the dice and what tile their unit moved to. Give some narration and flare to your posts. Help bring this story to life with your writing. :) As of the moment, the "Casual Mode" found in newer games will be considered "Off". This means death is a very real threat for your characters. Any objections, please voice them and we will take a vote.
The bonuses received from having Weapon Triangle advantage are +15 Hit and +1 Mt. When a Unit has the disadvantage, the penalties are the same in reverse, -15 Hit and -1 Mt. There are three Weapon Triangles to be aware of: 1) Sword > Axe > Lance > Sword 2) Knife > Bow > Chain > Knife 3) Light > Dark > Anima > Light As of the present, there is no inclusion of Staves in these Triangles, and the Ballista sub-type of Bows are also immune to the Weapon Triangle.

When your Units spend enough time together, they begin gaining Support Levels. These are labeled as "C", "B", "A", "A+", and "S", where "S" symbolizes marriage between one Unit and another, and "A+" is the alternative level of Support for a Unit that cannot be married to the first. Each Unit may only have 1 S-Rank Support, and 1 A+ Rank Support. These Support levels are more than for fun conversations and the like, however. When achieved, these provide stat boosts for Units who fight alongside each other with high supports. When battling alongside another Unit, whether simply adjacent to them or Paired Up, a Unit gains +5 Hit per allied unit. Then, for supports shared between this Unit and an adjacent Unit, they gain these bonuses once per rank, based on the combined affinities of both Units: Fire - Str/Mag +2, Hit +5, Avo +5, Crt +3 Thund - Def/Res +2, Avo +5, Crt +3, Ddg +3 Wind - Str/Mag +2, Hit +5, Crt +3, Ddg +3 Ice - Def/Res +2, Hit +5, Avo +5, Ddg +3 Earth - Str/Mag +2, Def/Res +2, Crt +3, Ddg +3 Water - Str/Mag +2, Def/Res +2, Hit +5, Avo +5 Dark - Hit +5, Avo +5, Crt +3, Ddg +3 Light - Str/Mag +2, Def/Res +2, Hit +5, Crt +3 Anima - Str/Mag +2, Def/Res +2, Avo +5, Ddg +3 Heaven - Str/Mag +2, Def/Res +2, DS +5, DG +5 Confused? I'll write out an example. If a Unit with Wind Affinity is Paired Up with a Unit with Heaven Affinity that he has a B-Rank Support with, they firstly gain 5 Hit simply for being two units Paired Up together. Next, they gain the above stats mentioned for the Heaven affinity, multiplied by 2, as they have reached the second support level with each other (B-Rank), meaning the total bonuses for the Heaven Unit being included are Str/Mag +4, Def/Res +4, DS +10, and DG +10. Lastly, the Wind Unit also gains bonuses because of his own Affinity in the relationship. Again, due to having a B-Rank Support with the Heaven Unit, he gains these bonuses twice. So he gets Str/Mag +4, Hit +10, Crt +6, Ddg +6 just for being a Wind Affinity Unit with a B-Support. Last step in this is to add these bonuses together: Str/Mag +8, Def/Res +4, Hit +15, Crt +6, Ddg +6, DS +10, and DG +10. I realize, that's a lot of bonuses. That's why I'm here. To be a human calculator and help with things like this. For extra examples, let's also assume that this same Wind Unit is adjacent to a Dark Affinity Unit he has a C-Rank Support with. Again, for being adjacent to a Unit, he gains a +5 Hit. As C-Rank is a first-stage Support Level, he gains the bonuses for both Dark and Wind Affinities once each. When combined, the bonuses this Unit gets for being near this Dark Unit are +Str/Mag +2, Hit +15, Avo +5, Crt +6, and Ddg +6. One last detail. Units gain certain rates for Dual Guard and Dual Strike for their Support Levels as well (without factoring Affinities), but only for the unit who joins him in the battle. They are as follows: No Rank: DS +20, DG +0 C Rank: DS +30, DG +3 B Rank: DS +40, DG +5 A Rank: DS +50, DG +8 A+/S Rank: DS +60, DG +10 Now, considering both of these scenarios are true (Wind Affinity Unit who is both Paired Up with a Heaven Affinity Unit he shares a B-Rank Support with, and adjacent to a Dark Affinity Unit he shares a C Rank Support with), you would combine the bonuses from both supports for a total of Str/Mag +10, Def/Res +4, Hit +30, Avo +5, Crt +12, Ddg +12, DS +50, and DG +15. I realize that is a complicated example, but it would be better if I made the example excessively complicated and the real scenarios turned out to be more simple, than vice versa. Hopefully, you were able to keep up through all of that. If not, it should make more sense after trying it out. I'll be here to help out as well.

First off, when you roll, your goal is low rolls usually, as a successful hit/crit/skill activation/etc is one whose roll is equal to or less than the percent chance of success. The only instance where a low roll is bad is when wielding a cursed weapon, and rolling to avoid the curse. The curse percent chance is (31-Lck)%, so a character with no luck would want to roll a 32 or above to avoid the curse, which must be done BEFORE rolling for Hit. For the order of possible rolls in a battle: Start by rolling for Vantage if the other team has the applicable Skill. Once attack order has been decided, roll the following in order for each attack: Backfire Rate (if using a Cursed Weapon); Hit Rate (Skip if Backfire activated); Mastery Skill Activation (if applicable; roll even if Backfired); Crit Rate (roll once for each hit of the Attack if a multi-hit attack, i.e. Astra; roll even if Backfired; a Backfire counts toward the WHOLE attack, not individual hits); Defender's Dual Guard (if applicable; roll once for each hit of a multi-hit attack); Defender's Defensive Skills [Mantle/Pavise, Miracle, and/or Counter, in that order should a character have multiple Defensive Skills] (if applicable; roll once for each hit of a multi-hit attack); Dual Strike (if applicable; roll ONLY ONCE at the end of ALL hits; if successful, also roll for Dual Strike Criticals and applicable Skills/Backfires in the proper order); Adept (if applicable; roll ONLY ONCE; DO NOT roll for Adept at the end of an Adept-Triggered attack; DO NOT roll for Adept if the character with the Skill is a Support Unit rather than a Lead Unit); proceed to next attack . . . Also, during each Level Up, roll once for each stat. If the value, again, is less than or equal to the given stat's % Growth, the stat is increased. However, in the case of an over-100% growth rate, 1 point is automatically given, and a roll is conducted against the excess over 100% to see if a second point is given.
Currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant GM. I have much to do in real life, and as a result, I can't keep my eyes on this thread 24/7. Understand that being an Assistant GM means you are essentially me when I'm away. This means you should know what to look for in an acceptable Character Sheet, and be willing and able to step into the shoes of the NPCs when necessary, as well as lead the group and push turn order when in the middle of a Chapter (mission). Turn Order =/= Post Order. Post Order kills RPs. Turn Order is simply the order in which characters and armies take their turns moving. This will be decided by an "Initiative Roll" at the beginning of each chapter. More on this will be explained when the IC is posted. Simply keep a fair number of posts between each of your own. Usually 2 or 3 is best. Otherwise, simply follow the typical rules of RPing, and by all means, have some fun! :) That's what we're here for, right? If you have ANY questions or suggestions, PLEASE voice them. I am open to criticism. There's even been a few instances of someone asking what the purpose in something is. I'm human, I make mistakes, and I forget details, and because of suggestions, I've seen a few of the shortcomings of the system already and have made steps to fixing it. Remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question, and if it seems like something that you don't want to ask publicly, feel free to send me a PM. I'd rather you ask and figure out what's going on than miss something or me forget a detail and you be lost. Happy Roleplaying! :)
Contests

"Pick a God and Pray!"
