When you've had a world that you built, by 'hand', with help from others that spans over many, many millenia that goes from Science Fantasy to Medieval Fantasy and back. Culture, language(really just borrowed because lazy at the time),military organization, map building, pantheon building, history building....All of it. and now I look at it, and I see many inconsistencies...and I want to right that wrong. but since I started so late in it looks very hard to actually start and I don't want to give up on this setting. It tears at me! It's been annoying me the last few days that I can't figure out where to start!
I think I've been there. -Except a dystopic corprate-run backwater in a technology-driven future (moon bases 'n stuff) I generally just roll with it and hope that the soft-retcon of a forum-crash and/or admin/mod-war or three buries most inconsistances as "ancient lore only still taught by the old supersticious few". The perform a rewrite so dredging that lore up is completely optional. -edit to remove nonsensical string of cryptic metaphors- I also seem to be adding quite a bit of... tension into my posts lately. Of all varieties. And then refusing to resolve it.
