Edward Carter

Edward nodded sagely. Demi-humans were indeed interesting. It was another factor that led to his coming here. In any case, it was nice to see Kyoko get along with Odette, and chuckled quietly as he observed the ghost-girl floating blissfully upwards. "No Odette, don't go into the liiiight," he said in a monotone voice. The girl was so endearingly awkward. He wondered what she had been doing all this time; if she were a ghost, didn't that mean she had a place to haunt? Her circumstances must be special if it led to her coming here. Still, that wasn't his business and he wouldn't pry too deeply into it. Something was bothering Edward, however. It was Ascot; there was something the matter with him. It flashed through his eyes as he began talking about the school; it was, apparently, a neutral zone in regards to the eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell - something that was also not his business. What was bothering him, he wondered. As he was mulling over these thoughts, he felt something in his hand, and his breath caught. This was a pattern that had repeated thousands of times before, and he knew what had appeared in his once empty palms. In his hand, coming unbidden, was a simple yet elegant silver key. It was a thing that was both sentient, yet not alive; much like it's creators. It's powers were many, but its purpose was singular, and when it appeared without his calling to it, that meant that it was informing him that he was being called to his duty. When it appeared like this, that meant only one thing - there was something not of this reality waltzing about in his vicinity. An avatar or perhaps a servant of his nemeses; whatever the case, their presence rarely meant anything good was going to happen. He wasted no time. "It's been a pleasure to meet you three," he said, with genuine cheeriness, "but I've got something to do. Catch you later!" Giving a short wave of goodbye, Edward stuffed the Silver Key into his pocket and turned away, eyes shifting back and forth between the students, looking for any sign of otherworldly tentacles. Most likely that whatever it was, it was here in disguise, else a large body of students would be gibbering wrecks by now. Such a disguise wouldn't fool him; both a blessing and a curse. He would not go mad like the rest, but he really, really didn't like looking at anything Eldritch.

[@Rune_Alchemist] [@Melpaws] [@Letter Bee]
