Amuné gave an only slightly sullen thanks when prompted. She didn't like the loud woman, and she still remembered how the winged Dimuran had yelled at her. They had saved the ragtag group, but they hadn't been very nice about it. She was here to find out what was going on, and because she wanted to stay with Ethan. What she heard chilled her to the bone. "The Church?" she whispered. She'd heard things about the Church, bad things, but they were just rumors. It was different, with the loud woman saying it so openly, so direct. "But why...why would the Church want to hurt Magi? Why would the Saints send their people against the ones they've blessed?" It didn't make any sense, it was insane, it went against everything she'd been taught. The Saints looked after people, they watched over her and and helped her. Maybe people might be lying and turn nasty, but the Saints? "No...no that can't be right. It can't." She looked up at Ethan, clinging to him for reassurance. He seemed just as confused as she was, until for some reason he mentioned the friend he was looking for. And then Taliya knew the name -- had learned from Cedric too. Cedric was a Magi? ...The Church had come after him? Amuné started shaking. It felt like her world was spinning out of control. The Church coming after people, taking Ethan's friend -- had they come after her parents? Was that why she couldn't find them? She shuddered convulsively and stepped closer to Ethan, the hand not holding his pulling Wyth closer as well. The way Taliya went quiet and serious, it scared her. The winged man came in and asked about Cecil, and she managed to find enough of a voice to answer him. "We ran into Cecil in a town -- it was right around when I met Ethan, I think. There were bad men after him. They wore suits and then the second time they had these weapons with crystals, and they didn't care who they killed and it was awful!" She shivered. "Were...were they from the Church too? Are the Saints really telling people to do things like that?" Tears filled her eyes again but she tried not to let them fall. She'd said she'd be brave, so even if she was a hundred times more scared, she needed to be strong.
