Would you also be adamant against someone playing an STG operative since you limited Specters? I have an interest in creating my Salarian as one of their rare biotics operatives. He's part of the intelligence services as a covert operative as a scout or information gatherer rather than in a team, leading missions for raids and etc. I would be thinking that my Salarian is tagging onto the group should anything develop worth notifying the Salarian higher-ups.

[i]Biotics are a rare resource in the Special Task Group, as the rate of producing a Salarian who holds biotic potential is slim to none. The prevalence of biotics in the STG is slim to none, as many of those Salarians who possess biotics do not have high enough aptitude to pass the threshold of being worth more on the front lines. However, to say that they are nonexistent on the field are simply what the Salarians wants every other race to believe in so they have a small advantage in their hand. Those who do make it onto the battlefield as a biotic operative, have usually passed a rigorous test to make sure that the training they received for their biotic powers has not hindered any of the other necessary areas of skill that are required to be part of the Salarian military. Along with further training to prepare them for survival for most situation, to ensure that their valuable resource is reclaimed rather than lost on the battlefield. The STG make a great investment in what few biotic soldiers they have on the field as they provide great flexibility. Even then, the missions that these special operatives are deployed on are usually covert missions rather than direct combat. In a sense, these soldiers that the STG are similar to a myth that exist as a story due to the rarity of soldiers who show biotic potential.

Out of the many operatives that are on the field, Penann Talis is an exceptional Special Task Group agent even without the merit of his biotics supplementing his resume. Performing mostly counter-intelligence with Cerberus and other intelligence agencies that were poking where the Salarians interests or concerns were at, along with the occasional request for sabotage when requested of him to do it. He has been mostly assigned to solo missions with several missions requiring cooperation with others that he has been assigned to scattered throughout his career. Despite the lack of familiarity he has with working among others, it never stopped Talis from completing the mission thoroughly as he could to ensure full effectiveness even if he had to spend a few minutes in the heat of intense battle. He has a habit of making things as efficient as they can possibly be, he doesn't like having to be flashy unless it serves another purpose that would justify it or anything else that he would do.

Within the events of Mass Effect, Talis was one of the teams that were deployed to scrape up information about the objectives and location of Saren as they received assigned areas to perform their searches. Essentially, making his rounds through space as he hitched rides while collecting information in hubs of activity and other illicit places while time went on. Eventually, by the orders the higher ups, Talis was pulled back to reallocate himself to somewhere where real work could be done by him. By the time news of the Citadel was under attack, Talis was already deployed on the planet Azun for his next mission involving reconnaissance. Missing the chance to partake in defending the Citadel, as he continued to perform his mission before letting anything affect him.

After the Reaper attack on the Citadel, and the coverup story of the attack being lead by geth rather than their true enemy. Talis was disillusioned by the lack of initiative by the council and Salarian Ambassador along with other members of the STG Task Force who held the same opinion, some who stood high in the ranks as they voiced their concerns. Joining the internal effort within the Special Tasks Groups to further cemented the existence of the Reapers and build up for when the time comes to defend themselves. Beyond that, it was mostly as smooth it could get for an STG operative as things continued to move on.

As time progressed, there were few events that stood out to Talis outside his service with the military. One was the journey of Commander Shepard as he transitioned from various states of fame as a war hero to infamy during their time working with Cerberus. What wasn't as exciting or a surprise was when reports of the Reaper Invasion began flooding in that one fateful day. As bugs all over the Alliance ships and colonies they had implanted began receiving a mass influx of messages which were quickly addressed by the Salarians. It was the first time he had ever seen so much tension when he was recalled back immediately after his mission was done. Being briefed by his superiors' orders as he was deployed immediately once again as plans were being set into motion as the Reaper threat was still on Earth. Participating in many missions that Talis was stretched thin to cover all of the bases, as the Salarians were hard pressed once the Reapers began to make their move from Earth. By the end of the threat with the Reapers, Talis had been worked to the bone as he was deployed to multiple fronts of the battle. 

At the end of everything, the tension still lied in the air as everyone was licking their wounds and began to rebuild from the damage sustained from the Reapers. Some were better than others, as Colonies were reclaimed and people were mourned as people began the transition back to what normalcy they could. Talis himself also got back into the regular schedule of work as he buried whatever lingering scars from the war into the job and would drown in it like always. Hopefully, this would be fine for a time before anything else would drag another conflict so soon to humanity again.
