Abigail glanced at the woman. Vivienne. She didn't understand how she could be a bit glib when her neck was on the line. She looked back at the Commodore. He was unrelenting. He was the type that would not bend the law for no man. If she had more authority she would order him to release the woman but even the daughter of a lord didn't have much authority. The woman couldn't be a pirate. Who ever heard of a female pirate? And even if she was, she wasn't stealing anything right then. They didn't catch her in the act so what if she had changed? Abigail was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. And that was something she probably would have done anyway even if she hadn't been saved. However, before she could really protest further, she found herself pulled back into the woman, a blade touching her delicate skin. Her heart rate skipped a beat and picked up speed though after the initial shock she was surprisingly calm. Elisabeth wasn't and moved forward but her father stopped her. "Think carefully about what you're doing." The Commodore narrowed his eyes at Vivienne. "Let her go." "Why?" Abigail objected almost immediately. "You're going to hang her anyway. What's she got to lose." The looks she received pretty much told her to shut up but she didn't. Not moving her head, she looked back. She couldn't see her rescuer/captor but that was fine. "I'm the daughter of Lord Ashe, niece to Governor Swan. They won't try anything that will endanger me." She looked calmly back at her uncle. His look confirmed it as well as his exasperation that she even mentioned that but Abigail didn't care. She didn't even begrudge the woman for holding a knife to her. The woman wanted to live. Abigail would probably do the same - assuming she had the skill or was in a situation like this. She knew she would get a strict lecturing from her uncle and undoubtedly the Commodore as well after this was said and done but she didn't mind. Though she was a bit surprised to see that Elisabeth was a bit frustrated with her as well. Abigail knew it was because her cousin loved her and wanted her safe but Abigail also didn't think the woman would just slit her throat. No murderer would dive into the water to save someone they didn't know. It didn't make sense to her. Many would probably call her naive, with some more bold ones calling her outright stupid. And in some ways they might be right. Abigail stayed completely still letting her captor dictate what the next steps were.
