I find myself asking a very important question: Considering that Artyom has actually [i]fought[/i] the shadowy monster things that more or less ate his homeland, what exactly did he encounter and what sort of tactics or abilities do they employ in combat? I know you said that it's grand plan is simply to grind everyone into dust via endless numbers but how does that actually play out in a proper battle?

Do they just keep sending wave after wave of 'solders' at the defenders so that they tire out and get cut down sooner or later? Just throw so much stuff at them at once that it is simply overwhelming? or are they more of a tyranid force in that if they encounter something that they are having trouble dealing with, they'll 'evolve' new units designed to deal with the issue in short order?
