It's not so much that we don't [i]want[/i] to, we literally are incapable of doing it at the moment. When the site was rebuilt, that ability wasn't added back into the mod kit, so we cannot do name changes as it stands. As I mentioned in the other thread, however, you're quite welcome to message Mahz and inquire about a name change -- he's the only person with the ability to do it.
