Well then. In that case I'm now debating on being a Red Ajah or a Red Hand member.

@Gareth Just be aware- Mordeth is confined to Aridhol/Shadar Logoth, though he does have influence on the Shadow forces coming out of there. And as a vendor, you'd probably want to control a second character, as I see no reason why a vendor would be involved in battle.

Yeah I understand.

Question: The seanchan going to remain unchanged from the books?

@Gareth We don't (or at least I don't) know much about the history of the Seanchan; so their class structure and society will remain the same, as will the damane system. Besides that, I don't know. It's really up to anyone who wants to play a Seanchan character.

ok sweet, the thing that I thought about the seanchan were that they were weird but not as vicious as the forsaken.

also I have a question about strength in the one power. Like saidar and saidin.

will our characters power level in saidar/saidin be explained in a c.s. or rather shown or revealed in the I.C....

Like before we do something in the one power we would just ask you if its ok before we make the post in the I.C.?

@Gareth Everything in the CS will be publicly known things, and those things which are necessary for the reader to actually understand your character. So their power level is really up to you, as to whether you want to make it known to the public or not. If you post it on your CS, cool, it'll make things easier on the rest of us, but if you'd rather make it known in the IC over time, just let me know in a PM and we'll sort out the details.

A good way to figure out your power level is by checking one of the guides online, which details the power levels of canon characters (such as this one: tor.com/2015/10/27/the-wheel-of-time-c..), then use that to determine your character's strength. Consider the fates, the trials, and weaknesses, of the characters who hold the most potential in the One Power, too.

As mentioned in the introductory post, if your character is immensely powerful, they must have equivalent weaknesses; like a woman who is an incredible Aes Sedai, on the same level as Lanfear, might have debilitating PTSD, a lame leg, and a child that they would sacrifice everything to save. So really, the amount of power you want to give your character is up to you- just know that the more OP they are, the riskier that is.

One of the few restrictions for characters is that if you are a warder, you must have an Aes Sedai. Losing them would be too unbearable, perhaps even worse than how one feels after being gentled.

That's more or less what I was originally planning on, actually ... that crippling despondence and potential obsessive need to fill the void -- a reciprocal revenge that eventually pushes him into the hands of a Black Ajah member, and so on. But perhaps my concept was a bit too soap opera and not enough WoT! Haha.

I find myself also a little dubious about the NRP aspect, but it got me thinking about manageable groups that still have an impact. Mercenaries, perhaps? A group in the employ of a smaller kingdom that still has a hat in the ring, but whose wealth outstrips their manpower. Does one of the nations in the list fit that bill?

<Snipped quote by Sanctus Spooki>

I just started re-reading that series. <3

Amazing series! It's near the top of my re-read list as well.

@Lucky Knight We're abiding by Jordan's rules. Unless your character has a connection to his new Aes Sedai as strong as the bond between Lan and Nynaeve- whose relationship I will defend to my grave- he wouldn't survive. That's not my rule, it's his.

I'm actually not going to be very demanding concerning how each nation functions, but here are the details that must be remembered:

  • Aelgar- On the Shadow Coast, the southwestern nation, stretching from the Aryth Ocean to the River Eldar, and from the southern end of the Mountains of Mist to the Sea of Storms; Renowned for its wealth and power, host to several beautiful Ogier-built cities. Survived the Trolloc Wars, but collapsed a few years later.
  • Almoren- In the east, stretching from north of Kinslayer's Dagger to Haddon Mirk, and from the Erinin to the Spine of the World, right next to Tar Valon (will later become Cairhien); Filled with mountains and forests. Demolished during the Trolloc Wars.
  • Eharon- In the south, between the Eldar and Manetherendrelle; Mostly forests, lush life thriving along the rivers and coastline. Consistently attacked during the Wars, but collapsed only after the Wars ended.
  • Essenia- In the southeast, between Manetherendrelle and the Spine of the World, from the Sea of Storms to the northern edge of Haddon Mirk; famous for its philosophers, and stores of knowledge; a land of plains and swamps. Barely survives the Wars, collapses in the aftermath.
  • Safer- Located on the western coast, stretching from the Aryth Ocean to the Mountains of Mist, and from the River Akuum to the Andahar. Once again, survives, then collapses.

None of these nations are small, and none would hire mercenaries- loyalty was a huge deal during the time of the Trolloc Wars. If you want, it would be great if you could be a Queen or King of one of these nations, acting as commander over their military forces when necessary. I would recommend becoming the monarch of Aelgar, given its reputation of wealth and power.

The thing a lot of people forget about 'mercenaries' is that they are literally hired guns. No mercenary will fight if he's not being paid the highest offer. They have no loyalties to anything other than money. So if you play a merc, then you must be hired out to someone else- a PC- and they will control what they want you to do. It's really not that fun playing an actual mercenary.

Also, this reminds me- if anyone wants to play an Ogier, be my guest.

Oooh, WoT is just pure nostalgia for me, in many ways the best and worst book series I've ever read. I'm knocking around the idea of a former false-dragon whose been gentled by Aei-Sedai and subsequently become a dark-friend. Could make an interesting anti-villain, not sure how that would fly with you?

@Joytex Any man who has been gentled is kept under close watch by Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, often put to work in the White Tower. They lose the will to live. I'm afraid the 'False Dragon' idea just won't work. If you make a current False Dragon, they will be put down by the Red Ajah as soon as possible. Their entire thing is preventing wrong use of the One Power- and being a False Dragon is pretty much the epitome of that. We're sticking by the rules of Jordan's work, sorry.

EDIT: To reiterate what Jordan said, they cannot bear to live any longer. The few that survive the depression must have something incredibly pressing that they can devote their lives to; and a man who believed himself the Dragon would never turn on his principles, to serve the Shadow. There's just no way one's passions could shift so drastically.

Ok, I'm still getting questions, so here's some clarification:

Each player must control a character. The player must also control a faction during battle, of which their character may be either the leader, or just a regular old member. For example, if you're playing a run of the mill member of the Green Ajah, you will dictate what your entire Ajah is doing during battle (the members that are present, at least).

I'll add this information into the introductory post.

Alright, if you guys want to go ahead and get started on characters, here's the CS. It's bound to change in the next few days, so be wary. We're going to do the CS in a public/private style, because that seems to work well.

Your first character sheet must be posted in the OOC first. However, before we GM’s can approve it, we must also see the second character sheet- a more comprehensive explanation of your character, that the public doesn’t need to see, but that you personally need in order to understand your character fully. Only once that has been submitted via PM and approved by both of us, can you post the first sheet to the CS tab.

Nothing can be marked “unknown” without prior approval.

PUBLIC:
Name: [Include any and all titles.]
Gender: [Note that you can be a gender not of the typical binary- however, if you are a channeler, PM me so we can discuss the details of how that will work.]
Age: [Keep in mind that female channelers can live a hell of a long time, but that history happens; if you have a particularly old character, make sure that you know what was happening in the world during their younger years. If you need help with that, message me and I’ll send you the relevant, abbreviated information.]
Origin: [Which of the nations are they from, specifically?]
Career: [What does your character do? Who are they? For example, an Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, a Warder to an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, the King of Manetheren, Darkfriend working as a Street Vendor, etc; include all relevant information as to your character’s primary occupation(s) in as few words as possible. Please include your rank as well, if necessary. And being a parent counts as an occupation.]
Faction: [What group will you, the player, control, that this character is a member/leader of? If they are the commander of said faction, write "Commander of [insert faction here]" rather than just the name of the faction.]
Appearance: [This can be a picture, so long as it’s not anime/manga, or it can be a physical description. Either way, show us enough that we can know what your character looks like- we don’t necessarily need to know the specific way her eyes shine at the break of dawn, just the basics- you can elaborate in the IC. If you need help finding a picture, PM me.]
History: [Here, include a basic summary- no more than 500 words- of your character’s life. This should be brief, succinct- as much information as a civilian might gather from chatting up a few acquaintances.]
Notes: [Any other information you deem relevant to the public. Include whether or not this person can channel, unless that’s already obvious by their occupation, if that information is publicly known.]

PRIVATE:
Personality: [An in depth analysis of your character’s belief system and personal code, and their perspective of the world, and how they act in it.]
History: [As long as it needs to be. A full account of your character’s life, from as early as you want to the current date.]
Family: [Does your character have any surviving relatives, or loved ones? Warders and Lovers should be listed here too, as should any similarly strong relationships. This should be in list form- i.e. Stan, brother; Bob, husband; Sally, daughter.]
Further Notes: [Any other information you deem relevant. Include whether or not your character can channel, if that information is not publicly known. If your character is a channeler, and you want her strength to be privately known, place it here.]

If you have a character working for the Shadow but you want to maintain this secret even OOC, PM me, and we’ll work something out.

A Wheel of Time RP? Well, isn't this a pleasant surprise. Definitely interested! Would there be room for a male Dreadlord in this RP?
