Crap I forgot how complicated the Aiel society is >.> Sadly I don't have any of the books anymore (lent them to my brother) So I'm kinda stuck using internet sources, which I don't exactly trust... Not to mention how unsatisfactorily incomplete it is. Basically my question is, do you have any sort of information on the Aiel Warrior Societies? IIRC the Maidens of the Spear tend to function as forward scouts and light infantry - this may be a bit too all encompassing seeing as all women warriors were required to be part of Far Dareis Mas, in many ways they could likely operate as a fully self sufficient fighting force with much greater efficacy than the rest of the Warrior Societies - Stone Dogs always struck me as a sort of heavy infantry (As heavy as Aiel infantry could be) The Brothers of the Eagle were the male counterpart to the maidens; I might be assuming too much, based upon the Old Tongue names for each. Night Spears seems self explanatory, specializing in night ops. Knife Hands being known for skill with their long knives or maybe simply favoring them over the Aiel spear. Red shields were the police force primarily, and were likely complementary to the stone dogs in actual battle. I believe Water Seekers were scouts as well, though I believe of a much farther ranging variety, and perhaps whatever minor amphibious actions Aiel would undertake. True bloods leave me a bit confused, the name doesn't actually provide much for extrapolation, I'm inclined to believe they were either elites (this is hard to justify, I don't think the Aiel changed societies, except in special circumstances - Maidens becoming Wise Ones for instance - making it hard to determine how they would know someone was elite) perhaps a core fighting force, or selected for outstanding physical attributes. Mountain Dancers, would once again, likely be specialized in fighting in Mountainous/hilly terrain. Dawn runners leaves me completely stumped, but the implication of light, as well as speed, makes me think they functioned as runners, facilitating communication between allied forces. Black eyes: I can find a source mentioning that interrogating prisoners tends to fall to Black Eyes, or Maidens (This again emphasizes the difficulty in fully classifying the Maidens) implying a certain familiarity with brutality (Especially considering regular Aiel practices regarding punishment) though their specific role in military operations is still left unclear. Thunder Walkers, I'm again a bit unclear on, I'm tempted to say they would place an emphasis on Morale, banging spears against shields, singing the battle Chant (think more intensely so than regular Aiel) with a higher level of commitment, generally trying to intimidate the enemy, and rally/inspire their allies. Sorry for the massive amount of theorization, but with Aviendha's emphasis upon maintaining consistency, I figured it would be best to try and clear up some of these details >.> I also have a few questions regarding my actual OC, though those are more simple requests to stray slightly from established lore, that I would rather discuss through PM.
