I am not an expert on parties*, but I am pretty sure you should have a pre-party dress, a party dress [i]and[/i] a post-party dress. 

*[i]This might become painfully apparent when I begin to describe the party you are due to attend. I fully intend to do some research on "good" parties over the coming few days, but am likely to get distracted by something or other, but hopefully the fact this is an[/i] alien [i]party will be enough to explain why the party I am describing bears no similarities to actual parties that actual people go to in order to have an actual good time.[/i]
