I think where you're going with this is fine and I'm good to accept the concept. I find it interesting that your man is mothering a cult already, which is cool. I'd like to see more in his personality referring to his human characteristics more. What are his motivations, is a calm man or just ambitious. stuff like that. 

If you want to put a cult part in the CS you can add that as a subjection. Be aware though that, since these aren't worshipers, their morality is bound by their gold, circumstance and mannerism. For most, calling you a deity may just be apart of the job.
