Where do I begin? I lost my parents at a very young age... A tragedy, I know. I grew up feeding on unsuspecting people and all that. To be honest, the memories of my childhood are all hazy. I d-don't even remember my "real" gender... I think you want to know about the juicy parts, eh? How I ended up as the horned, eye covering, gender swapping, Vampiric and Djinn-carrying monster I am today? Well... Not much for me to tell you in that regard... Oh fine, since you asked so nicely... So poor little me was just strolling along one day looking for something to eat... I wandered into the market and my eyes immediately homed on this jar... It looked like it was filled with water and I wasn't just hungry, but very thirsty too... I walked up to the stand and there was this strange man. He was very polite, although he looked a little weak... As if he were sick or had to carry a great burden... He looked a little weird too... It looked like I wasn't seeing the real him... Or at least not all of him... I asked him about the things he had at his stand, since they all seemed strange, outlandish and somehow connected to the occult. Whatever the case, he saw my eyes drift to that specific jug he lit up like the sky on a sunrise. He told me the it was something special he prized, but that it was also a burden. I didn't really know what to think of it, so I asked him more about it. He said he could explain it more if I wanted and offered to take me out for lunch, something that hugry me couldn't say no to. He went on to tell me vaguely that the bottle contained great power, but that it came at a great cost and was a great burden to carry. I asked him for more details, but he said he only the person who bore the burden or agreed to do so could know more. He asked me to consider my answer carefully, although he already knew what I was gonna say. Who could blame the man? I hated my life... Great power at the cost of carrying whatever burden was an imporovement from my current life. I was just strugglingg to survive... I had nothing to lose... Or so I thought... The man took me to a door in a side alley, knocked and then said some weird words when a lid opened. The lid closed and a couple of moments later the door opened. Being led down a dark corridor and then into a stone room with incantations and sigils written all over the walls. There was this man in a black robe there... The man that brought me there traded some words with the robed man before turning to me. He asked me if I wanted to be a Vampire to make carrying the burden easier. I wouldn't need to eat food and I'd live forever. But that meant I'd have to carry the burden forever. Till I turned to ash or found a way to free the world of it. It'd also mean that my soul would be one if I died. Should I chose to not join the unliving, then I'd be able to pass the burden on like he was doing. I was always hungry... I didn't care what happened to my soul, as long as I wasn't starving. I accepted the offer without thinking twice. The hooded man told me to come closer, and then I blacked out... When I awoke, I knew that I was no longer among the living citizens of Gaea. I was given a vial of blood by the two men and I was told to savor it... For it would be the taste I'd have to endure in my mouth till the end of Gaea. It was bitter... But sweet... I was unsure what to make of it, but I knew exactly what it was. The man who brought me here waved his hand in the air and his illusion disappeared. In it's place appeared a horned monstrosity. Not human anymore, not elf, not anything. It just was... The ma-... thing's suffering was evident. I could feel the magic coming from it, but I could feel the pain it felt and the horrors it had suffered. I was told that the bottle contained a spirit. Chained to it's prison by ancient and powerful magic long ago. It's energy twisted the bodies of those that guarded it. The spirit would whisper to me and ask me to serve it, to set it free. In return I'd be offered power unimaginable. It would tell me everything I heard was a lie, but I shouldn't listen to it. I was given the bottle, and all it took was a whisper from the spirit to get me to try and release it. I was stopped by the men and was tied to the wall and gaged. I was forced to endure the spirits torturing whispers and screams for days. All the while the men stood around me and chanted strange incantations and burned or whiped or otherwise tortured me. I was occasionally given blood, but it was definitely not enough. After who knows how long (I speculate several weeks, though I was tied to a wall underground, so I don't know how long it could have possibly been.), I was cut down and brought back to the center of the room. The whispers no longer affected me. I no longer felt the urge to open the bottle or even listen to the spirit. Satisfied with the result, the horned man... thing, told me it would teach me what it knew about magic and a weapon of my choice (I chose a Lucerne Hammer) in the best way it could. The guardian of the spirit had magical powers surging through their body, which granted them great power potential, but also twisted them into monstrosities such as he was. I spent much time learning magic from it, and as time passed my own body began to twist... I grew horns... My body parts began to shift... I forgot my gender after it began to change almost dayly... My former life gone forever... After mentor killed himself when the pain became too much for him to bear, The hooded man told me that it was time for me to strike out on my own. I had to find a way to rid the world of the burden I carried or die trying. He suggested I travel to the twillight fortress and see if they had the knowledge I needed to rid the world of my burden. The Scribes and Historians there don't just give knowledge without something in return, and that I would need to provide something in return. Knowing I'd be rejected by the civilized world, I decided to go east and map the uncharted lands. Getting a cartographer to teach me the art of cartography, I spent many nights drawing maps and rewriting them, drawing sketches of cities and quickly drawing surrounding areas. I don't know how long I spent in that room being beaten and tortured, learning magic and combat, studying maps and sketching, but it was time for me to leave. The hooded man told me I could return whenever I wanted and that I just needed to say a catchphrase. The same one the monstrosity that brought me here said many years ago. I depart in the middle of the night and will head west. For I am now experiencing puratory on earth. An immortal monstrosity carrying a spirit of awful power that begs to be freed and beats down on the very essence of my soul. But it is my burden to bear. My task to carry. I must preserve and must carry on. I must not fail in my quest to rid the world. I am ready to forfeit my life for it. I am ready to give everything for it.
