Audrianna's eye widened when Ben scooped her up into his arms. When he accelerated, she grabbed onto his neck with both arms, afraid that if she didn't she'd fly off. She didn't worry about Jae since he probably took to the air... unless he wanted to burn all the trees. The thought made her almost chuckle. Her argument earlier with Jae ran through her head. Truth be told, she wanted to make sure that Cody was alright. He'd been taking care of everyone for a while and she thought it was time somebody watched out for him. She didn't doubt that he could take care of himself. She just wanted to make sure he wasn't hurt. A little ironic though since he was a healer. But being able to heal any injury doesn't make it less painful, right? [color=mediumpurple]"Cody!"[/color] she called out as soon as she caught sight of him, blushing when she realized that it was the first time she called him by his first name.

Cody turned as he heard the commotion coming through the trees behind him. When Audrianna and Ben nearly ran into him he pulled her away from where he had been standing.

He had come up on a large fight of sorts between two groups of people. None of them were using any powers so he was thinking that they didn't have any and that kind of concerned him. Why did his people have powers and not them? Who were they and who were they fighting and why? Did Harley stumble upon these people? If so did they capture her and take her somewhere? His mind had been thinking all of this when Audrianna had appeared. 

Audrianna climbed off Ben's arms, muttering a quick and embarrassed thank you to him. She immediately went to Cody, her hand automatically touching his arm. 

He noticed that Ben had his arm around her and somewhere in the back of his brain he knew he would ask her about that later. Now was just not the time. His frown apparent when he looked at Ben, he barely held his tongue.

[color=00a651]"Audrey, Why are you here? There is fighting right on the other side of those bushes."[/color] His hands were on her shoulders and he pulled her to him in a protective embrace. [color=00a651]"I thought you were Jae. I'm going to guess he is up in the air too isn't he?"[/color] He looked up to see him in the distance. [color=00a651]"I hope Harley can see him from wherever she is."[/color]

[color=mediumpurple]"I wanted to make sure you're okay,"[/color] she explained in a quiet voice and nodded skywards. [color=mediumpurple]"I think JJ's gotten the hang out of flying."[/color] She turned her attention to the fight going on in the distance. [color=mediumpurple]"What's happening?"[/color] she asked.

Cody heard a gunshot and he wrapped his arms around Audrianna and pulled himself between her and anything that would come flying at them. A second one rang out and Cody took it in the back of his left shoulder. The sudden pain in his eyes was visible as his body pitched forwards just a step or two. [color=00a651]"Son of a bitch...that's going to take a while to heal. We need to get you back to the bunker where more of the guards are."[/color] Cody was obviously in pain and still strong enough to fight his way out if he had to. 

Audrianna had no time to react as Cody shielded her with his body. When a bullet hit him, she looked up at him, worry evident in her face and immediately erected a force field around them, surrounding Ben with one as well. It was late, the Commander had been hit but better late than never. [color=mediumpurple]"I'm not going anywhere. My power is to protect and while I have no idea how to fight, I can at least help keep you safe,"[/color] she said, allowing no space for argument.

Cody saw the force field go up around Ben too and he couldn't help the green eyed monster that he was struggling with. Why was he so jealous? He already knew the answer to that. In school he had been the guy who was looked at as the 'nice' guy. Most girls in school wanted the bad boy because he was more exciting. Cody had been the smart quiet one and although he dated, he never managed to keep a girl's interest too long because one of the bad exciting guys would catch her interest and the girl's would leave him. When he had met his fiance she had been a knockout and so many men noticed her that he had been extremely protective of her. Now there were less people so choices were fewer and further between and he really liked Audrianna and he didn't want to lose her.

Cody shook off her arm gently. He looked in her eyes. He knew this was a stupid idea but his irrational fears of being left were real. [color=00a651]"I know how this will sound but why did you bring Ben?"[/color]

Audrianna was prepared to defend her decision. She was sure Cody would argue with her even though she said her piece with a degree of finality. When he asked about Ben, she blinked. [color=mediumpurple]"W-what?"[/color] she asked, surprised. She looked towards Ben then back at Cody. [color=mediumpurple]"Well, we're here to help you out,"[/color] she explained, pointing a finger upwards. [color=mediumpurple]"Just like our human torch up there,"[/color] she said, completely oblivious of the Commander's jealousy. She reached out for his shoulder. [color=mediumpurple]"Are you okay? Let me see that wound?"[/color] she said tentatively.

Cody heard her words and her reassurances quelled his insecurity. [color=00a651]"It's nothing. The bullet has already been pushed out and it's healing." [/color]He held her and hugged her whispering in her ear. [color=00a651]"I'm sorry, I suppose I am a little jealous that someone will steal you away from me."[/color] He kissed her cheek softly and heard the ping of another bullet bouncing off of her force field. [color=00a651]"We need to hurry. Let's go back to the bunker and see if Harley has returned there on her own yet."[/color] He looked around and waved the others back to the bunker to circle it and defend it as necessary. He needed to know who they were up against.
