No worries, it's an understandable mistake. As for your character, the best advice I can give you is to just not give her a mental illness. If you don't know about them, don't attempt to write the symptoms, because chances are you wouldn't be able to do so realistically. However, she can still act "crazy" in her personality. Being unhinged and strange doesn't mean you have to have a mental illness, it just makes you odd and different. Personalities like that can definitely be shaped by events in their childhood too. If anything, she'd probably have PTSD, and the symptoms of that can range from mild to severe depending on treatment.
