Name: - Samuel Leonard “Sam” McKenzie Alias: - Namor Age: - 25 Powers: Atlantean Physiology – Sam’s body is specially developed for underwater conditions, granting him specialized blood circulation to withstand freezing temperatures and highly developed vision to see clearly even in murky ocean depths. This hybrid physiology means he can survive indefinitely underwater or on land, though he would still need occasional contact with water to survive. Superhuman Strength Superhuman Speed Superhuman Stamina: Superhuman Agility Superhuman Reflexes Superhuman Durability Aquatic Healing Underwater Breathing Augmented Vision Hydrokinesis: Sam has the ability to manipulate the water around him. As he is still only discovering the true extent of his abilities, this is currently limited to generating water and simply moving it via hand gestures. Extensive training may lead to him being able to manipulate the moisture in the air or possibly even effect the weather. Weaknesses: Water Deficiency: When not exposed to water, many of Sam’s physical attributes gradually decline and can reach a point where he possesses only a small fraction of his powers. Sam's strength, stamina, and durability are affected most and, at their minimum known level, are much closer to the levels possessed by the vast majority of other Atlanteans. Renewed exposure to water will immediately restore his abilities. Oxygen Imbalance: Sam has demonstrated a vulnerability to oxygen imbalance when remaining too long in either water or air, resulting in manic-depressive mood swings. Personality: Unstable - Probably the most important facet of Sam's personality is his instability. Due to his bi-polar disorder, he is prone to mood swings, fits of rage and depression and a lack of focus. Intuitive - Sam has a knack for outside of the box thinking and very much follows his gut and instincts rather than thinking logically (this is mostly because he doesn't really trust his own thoughts). Kind - Above all else, he is a generally kind individual with a lot of compassion for his fellow man. Though is kindness does tend to give way to something else if he suffers an bi-polar episode. Experience: Six months BRIEF Bio Madness is a funny thing. Many years ago, during a heated and legendary battle; the King of Atlantis, Namor the Sub Mariner was chosen to wield a shard of the Phoenix Force. The Phoenix Force is one of the oldest known abstract entities that represents life that has yet to be born. Unlike other members of the Phoenix Five, Namor was prone to fits of instability and during one such episode, he would use his new powers to bring life to a former lover that had perished years earlier. Unbeknownst to Namor, the woman June Severn, was pregnant when she had died. Once she had been brought back, she had to go into hiding to protect herself and her soon to be born child. Adopting Namor’s civilian name of McKenzie, June gave birth to young Samuel nine months later. Sam was raised in Rockaway Park, New York. Thanks to some backing by a friend, his mother had managed to carve out a nice little life for her and her son. Sam wanted for nothing, he was not a spoiled child but there was very little he did not have. For the most part, he was just a regular boy except for his susceptibility to mood swings. Doctors diagnosed him with bi-polar disorder and prescribed him a strict routine of medications and therapy. Sam found a talent for rugby but his real passion was swimming. He felt so at home in the water, even more so than when he was on land. He also regularly attended the gym and jujitsu class. Life turned on its head one evening when Sam took his boat out across the shore. Something beneath the water began to rumble and soon enough from the murky depths, two figures came forth; an Atlantean traitor and Sam’s father, Namor. Of course at this point in time was unaware of his heritage. As Namor, now aged and vulnerable began to falter in the fight. A sudden urge took over Sam and he rushed in to help, through Namor’s guidance, he unlocked his Atlantean abilities and defeated the foe. After the battle, Sam and Namor talked deep into the night, with Namor revealing the truth behind Sam’s heritage and that he had been watching him since he was a boy. Unnerved by this turn of events, Sam fled New York, wandering from city to city trying to make sense of his life. Key Differences: - This Namor is far more human than his predecessor, with the crux of his stories being about his emotional and mental state, both of which are incredibly fragile. His story is about exploring the impact of bequeathing terrifying power to someone so unstable but still inherently good. Sample Story Arcs: Rage of the Seven: As Sam continues his journey of self discovery, he finds himself in Alaska working on a fishing boat. When a disgruntled worker threatens the small town in which he has settled, Sam takes matters into his own hands but can he control his powers when his illness takes hold? Ocean Dark: Sam returns to New York after his sabbatical and must contend with an army of disgruntled Atlanteans who despise surface dwellers. Has the time come for Sam to take on the mantle of Namor? Supporting Characters: - Namor: Dramatically aged thanks to a prolonged period of time above water, he serves as a voice of reason for his son. - Attuma: A commander of a Atlantean terrorist cell. - Tigershark 2: A child of Tiger Shark and enemy of Sam.
