The Corax Dominion is a relatively new country formed by the Ordo Corcis against outside threats. Started out as a militaristic dictatorship it gradually earned recognition. The grand master was crowned and adopted the title knight-emperor and the nation underwent powerful reforms. Inspired by the ideas of enlightened thinkers the Corax Dominion is highly centralized and organized. At the same time they stick to the customs and values of chivalry, creating a strange image of both old and new.

[/hider]Corax is found at the southwesternmost corner of the continent. It's surrounded by rich mountains, great forests and rivers in an overall Mediterranean climate. The mainland was used to be called Westewald but nowadays Schwerternwalde is more common. People who don't particularly have good relation to Corax also refer to it as the Dragon's Teeth. Somewhat recently Corax took lands from Zellonia which they now call Novolitum (New Coast).


[color=fff200][h3][b]Culture & Government[/b][/h3][/color]
Corax was formed from several countries and their more than a dozen different nationalities. Local languages are quite widespread in use. At one time most of the lands were also subject to the Zellonian Empire which brought their language and culture. Zellonian (equivalent of this world's German) is generally utilized to communicate with different culture, enough that one can call this the nation's language. The higher classes and the church also have their own language, Dominuan (equivalent of ancient Latin), which is used for ceremonies, historical records and official papers.

The Schwerternwalde region is known for diverse ethnicities. Historically these lands or various portions of it were owned by many empires in the past. In a general sense they can be referred as Westerians but almost all inhabitants refer to themselves by the culture or nationality they belong to. While the territory is now under the united banner of Corax the national lines didn't disappear and people can freely continue their cultural customs even 200 years later.

In spite of this Corax is highly centralized and ruled by absolutist ideals. Began as a de facto military dictatorship with tense external relations this resolved after the order's grandmaster was crowned knight-emperor. His lineage adopted the Corvinus dynasty name. The old nobility and ruling class were mostly kicked out of power and replaced them with loyal knights and even merchants who supported the Order. Nobility as it was once known is gone within Corax. The governance and administration of lands are now done by people directly appointed by the knight-emperor. Although one might argue that influential knight and merchant families are de facto creating a noble caste of their own. Corax is highly centralized and governed by numerous laws, and from those not even the emperor is exception. For a hundred years now Corax has a constitution limiting the ruler's power. He must also work in concert with the Collegium of Lands, a gathering of representatives from all territories of Corax. Laws are proposed and made by the Collegium even if the emperor has a quite considerable influence in it including the unlimited right of veto.

Corax was formed at around the night of the industrial revolution and the knightly order made perfect use of this. Schwerternwalde has rich mountains

Corax has various types of local currencies but the most popular and nation-wide distributed system has the following coins. Plumbatus (made of lead), Argent (made of silver), Chrysus (made of gold) and the lightest yet most valuable Alum (made of aluminium). Indeed, thanks to its novelty and expensive production aluminium is considered the most extravagant metals, only affordable by the most wealthy. Aside from physical money Corax has banks and long history to issue notes. These banknotes then can be exchanged at any major bank for the appropriate sum of coins.
