So, I was thinking of making sort of a government official character. Not quite a samurai, though historically the kind of person I have in mind would be one, but something along the lines of a magical cop?
I would like to ask what kind of weapon you would consider a Jitte to be. I figured that they were so strongly associated with law enforcement of the era that it would fit with the character concept.
Edit: Another thing, are guardian spirits used as weapons considered melee or ranged for purposes of the "one primary/secondary/ranged" thing or is that a case by case call?

Guardian Spirits are only primary or secondary. They can be ranged because they charge an enemy and inflict elemental damage but their range for that is close combat. Not medium or long range.

Origin: Albion, a small country similar to England, save for they remained under anglo-saxon feudal law. The country is ruled by King Charles the Third, and the country’s chief export is war. The noble houses earn vast wealth by aiding other countries in struggles, using the poor as their weapons.
Profession: Knight
Hobby: It might seem strange, but Zane finds training enjoyable enough to do it as his hobby. When his body is too fatigued to train, he hones his mind by exploring texts on warfare and similar documents.

Strengths: Zane is an expert soldier, and a fierce fighter. Even those who hate him cannot refute his prowess in battle. In addition to this, he is an expert strategist, able to attain victory where others would only find death. He is loyal to the men under his command, and his unit, named the Werewolves, was regarded as one of the most elite fighting forces in the world.

Over the coming years, Ryteb didn’t just train Zane to be a mere soldier, but a Commander of men. The wolves who once threatened him were brought under his thrall, and made to be a staple of his Werewolves until the present day. By the time he was but fifteen, he already had a thousand men under his command. It was believed that he was going to rebel against the nobility and free the people. Then the opposite occurred.
Travelling to the capital, he swore fealty to the king, in exchange for lands and a title. He was named Lord of Lychbaen, a small village of no real value to the nobility. Via his training regime, and Ryteb’s knowledge, Lychbaen and the Werewolves became a sight to behold. Many of the nobles were jealous of Lychbaen, but were too afraid of Zane’s military might. By the time he was 25, even the king was starting to be wary of the threat the force proposed. So they planned a ruse to get him killed. Zane was ordered to sail to Japan, to aid in the war, but in actuality they had sent a message to the Japanese saying that Zane had gone rogue and was planning to attack them.
The Japanese attacked Zane’s ship of the coast of Mahoushima. Lacking any form of skill in naval combat, the Werewolves were all but eradicated. It was only by the quick thinking of Zel, one of his lieutenants, that even twenty of them survived. Upon the shores of the island, the remains of the the Werewolves made a promise. They would avenge their fallen brothers or die trying.

@Ryteb PymeroceI'm going to tell you right now rather than tell you to go back and make the corrections you missed that I'm more than likely not going to accept this character because his backstory is just too unbelievable. It's so unbelievable that you even write "luck" but then you don't make "luck" a passive ability. You even have him survive off corpses at a young age without taking into consideration any diseases or plagues. It's just too unbelievable even though this is a fictional game, it just fits that one thing I said not to do. The back story is even exasperating to read.

I would personally put it in the sword catagory because it fits even less in the rest. Not to mention that most government officials during the edo period used to be samurai i think :)

I guess I'll have to go back to square one, and redo the character completely. Sorry about the backstory, it's always been the part of the cs I struggle with most.

Fierce storms and heavy rains dominate the weather while high mountains cover the inland. Even though the living conditions are less then ideal, there is a small community of mainly fisherman and hunters.
Profession: Kenta is a fisherman just like his father, his neighbors and at least half the population.
Hobby: Kenta is a fairly skilled carpenter and maintains his families boats just for fun. He also likes to craft useful items from wood such as furniture and even shacks to live in.

Race: Human
Strenghts: Kenta is a survivor. He was raised under tough living conditions on the desolate Toi Chiheisen Island. He knows how to craft items, put on fires during heavy rain, create shelter and live on what the wilderness has to offer. Though conditions breed tough men with strong determination and ingenuity.
Weaknesses: Growing up so far from propper society has his downsides. Kenta does not know how to read and write, he is who-fully unaware of proper etiquette and often will be perceived as blunt and disrespectful. Also Kenta lacks any formal martial training and is rather unskilled in the use of weapons for anything other then hunting.

Preferring to be clear rather then speak in riddles. He will tell the Emperor straight in his face that he's a cunt just as easily as the peasant from next door. Social classes are a foreign concept to Kenta. He simply does not see how birth right or wealth makes someone a better person.
Kenta was raised along strict moral value's of work hard and do not complain. His father would often tell that if you have time to complain about your own situation, you're not working hard enough to change it. Kenta strongly believes that all men have the power to shape their own destiny as long as they put their mind to it. This believe has shaped the young man into a fiercly determined but at times rather stubborn person. Failure is not an option and Kenta rather keeps trying than giving up.
For those who manage to get around this young man's rough edges will find a loyal, hardworking and dependable friend.
