I'll join even if I don't really think much in terms of anime so my perspective may be rather different in how I approach things (not sure if that will be a issue or not).

Though lemme test with the character idea I have based on the premise of '4 criminals in the future doing shit work'.  I also think I can get away with a self-destructive character more here thanks to the non-linear nature of things.

Mainly it's a man who is a disgraced officer (a rather incompetent one who got discharged after some major fuck up) whose brain was put in a missile rigged with cybernetic infrastructure, given limbs and a hover pad and forced to do shitty, life-threatening jobs as punishment.
