- What OS are you using? Windows 7, 8, 10?
- How old is the machine?
- If you know any specifics like RAM or what processor you have, that could help me bit...

Heat could be an issue though generally if heat gets dangerously high, a computer would shut down. (but heat does decrease efficiency). Could be a graphics issue as well.

Personally, if my laptop starts acting a bit too weird I generally do a factory reset but that's a LOOONG process.
