- Kara -
[@LightningLynx89][@Letter Bee][@deathclawow] Raising an eyebrow, Kara sighed. She usually wasn't one for theater, but she would have appreciated a little ooh-ing. What was the point of semi-divine supernatural powers if people weren't impressed by them? Oh well. She had a job to do. And probably not all too long to do it before the two other Magi she could hear attacked. The illusionist hid himself well, but had not thought to mask the sound of his heartbeat, nor the other slight sounds made by even the stealthiest of humans. While Kara did not know who these magi were they were clearly magi for the things she had heard and seen them do, and they were clearly here for the fellow being interrogated. If she didn't defuse this situation quickly, it was likely to escalate. "All right, let's get the obvious out of the way first." Seemingly instantly accelerating from a standstill to a breakneck pace, she drew the man's gun from his belt before his hand touched his holster, placing it to her own temple. Turning towards him with a smile on her face and her other hand raised in a mock gesture of surrender she fired three bullets into the side of her head. Each struck a 'skull' just beneath the surface of her skin quite unlike any normal biological material. A series of carbons molded through magic to adopt a perfect cubic atomic arrangement, creating the material known as 'cubic diamond'. All of the hardness of traditional diamond combined with the flexibility of iron or steel. With this super-material folded into miniature nano-tubes to create a molecular weave it formed one of the most effective defences on Earth, a highly advanced form of Graphene. Even with the bullet negating the supernatural enhancements applied to the material by Kara's power it's physical properties alone were easily enough to halt the low-calibre rounds, and the crystaline bullets shattered with little to no effect. Smiling Kara stared the man down as she casually tossed the gun back at him, before removing some small remaining shards of crystal from the skin around the impact points. "So, now that we've established that there is nothing you can do to hurt or stop me, shall we move on to business?" Rapidly Kara's form altered yet again, this time into a tall white-skinned androgynous figure in a dark blue business suit. The new form lacked any facial features other than a mouth filled with shark-like teeth. Using a series of subdermal sensory organs in order to orient herself, Kara now addressed the man in a hurried fashion. "Currently I am here to represent the interests of a loose coalition of individuals with abilities of supernatural origin, in addition to the general rights of people of similar origin and ability. While I lack the authority to speak for all of the self-dubbed 'Magi', I do possess the ability to negotiate for the aforementioned group, which would be the closest thing to an organised whole that has formed among the Magi." "Currently you are holding a US civilian and interrogating them with no trial or evidence to a crime. Lacking any evidence or indication that this individual is a credible threat to national security your intervention violates constitutional rights. As such I am here to negotiate for the immediate release of said civilian from custody, and for a full trial to commence on the subject of your superiors. You are no doubt acting under orders, and the people responsible for this unfortunate violation of our most basic and important laws will need to be found and placed on trial for performing unconstitutional acts." Smiling the figure appeared to produce a large black briefcase from it's coat (which could not have held said briefcase) and opened it to reveal a large pile of important-looking documents. "I recommend that you inform your immediate superiors that they are to halt all of their actions towards containing and interrogating the individuals in question, lest you be be held accountable for the crime you are committing. After all, once you are made aware of the illegal and immoral nature of your actions it becomes your responsibility and right to disobey any orders that would lead to you performing said actions." Truly, this was the most powerful ability she could have unleashed. The unholy power of POLITICS. Indeed, even in the midst of what might be a global arcane revolution the law would still hold firm, and there were limits even to what the President was able to do. It did not matter who had authorised this, and who supported it. Even if it was eventually declared legal and the CIA declared innocent it would be after a long and hard legal battle, which would then be swiftly followed by the immense legal clusterf*ck that would be the American law system attempting to adapt to the sudden appearance of magic. Bringing the entire situation to light and forcing the government to play by it's own rules would buy the Magi time, if nothing else, and would severely limit the CIA's ability to directly act against them. Public scrutiny would make violent government intervention practically impossible, as long as the Magi Kara was representing managed not to turn themselves into a national threat. As if suddenly remembering something Kara suddenly looked down at the CIA agent, who was at this point no doubt baffled by the unexpected angle of assault. "Of course, it's also possible that this is not a matter of national security, but rather a declaration of war. It might be that the United States government wishes to declare a civil war against this group of individuals. If you were to refuse my offer of negotiation in fact you might personally be responsible for a second American Civil War, one that will cost thousands of lives and see entire cities burned to the ground. Do you want to do that?" Kara leaned in close, her strangely lavender-scented hot breath hitting his face. "And do watch how you answer, you're being recorded."
