You can certainly join. As to the technologies...

Gene modification is up to the level of gene therapy for things like hereditary disease risks, or for non-invasive eyesight correction, but it's very expensive. Cybernetics can mimic nerves, allowing for bionic limbs (and once the right tech is unlocked, full-on cyborgs are possible, as well as AI-driven robots,) but that too is expensive, and there's still issues with acceptance. Tech will make all of this far easier.
