Okay, so, since no one said anything, here we go, the official decision now:

The shape is going to be a hollowed out circle, thick lines, and inside the circle is a + shaped cross. It can either be blue, or white on a blue backdrop. Can be paired with a crest, of course. I think that'll do for what I have in my head.
