Quickly putting two teaspoons of sugar into two of the coffee cups and another into the fourth mug, which was empty, he poured the boiling water into the three coffee mugs, with some milk going into the mug he had mental designated as Taka's. Placing the kettle back on its base, he flicked the heat off the hob and moved the pan of warm milk to pour it into the fourth mug. Using the teaspoon he had scooped the coffee with, he stirred the mugs of coffee. As he stirred, James took a second to think about what Taka said to him, especially regarding the skeletons in his closet, of which their were plenty of. 'Well, to start, I killed my first man aged 12, and by the time I turned 14 that number had risen to 8, 9 counting the assisted suicide in Dubai.' Shaking his head lightly, he tried to clear his head of that particular train of thought. to his misforturne, His mind strayed to the most recent skeleton added to the veritable mausoleum that was his 'closet'. Amina. He wondered if it was wise to let his newest partner about her, but decided to let the topic rest for now, until there was a better time to talk about it. Instead he finished stirring the drinks, placing them on a tray. Before he picked up the tray, he gave Taka a quick look at her mention of lending her money. Mulling it over in his head, he was hesitant to give money to someone he barely knew, but she was his ally and he need to start showing a little trust in some way. Not just that, but his previous experiences with women let him now that some of them can be particularly stubborn and will sometimes get... creative in order to get what they want. "As long as you don't go overboard, It shouldn't be too much of a problem. You will pay me back though, one way or another." With another light shake off his head, he picked up the tray of mugs and lead the woman back into the living room, grabbing 4 coasters as he walked. Placing the tray on the glass coffee table, he tossed a coaster in front of Jack and the other seating places before taking the mugs and placing them in front of their respective seats. The black coffee with sugar was placed in front of the armchair with James' coat resting on it, the other black coffee placed in front of the other armchair, signalling that seat was for Van Helsing. The warm milk was placing in front of the young Assassin, the white coffee beside it for Taka. Sliding the tray onto the shelf below the table, James disappeared out of the room, only to return a minute later and toss a plastic packet of painkillers next to Taka's drink. Settling into his seat, he lightly waved his hand towards the drink and the medicine. "For your neck." That was all he offered in way of explaination, but it should have been sufficient. With nothing left to be said, he lifted his mug and took a mouthful of the hot drink, the sweet and bitter flavour helping him to relax a little.
Van Helsing was again a little surprised as the little girl hopped up and grabbed his collar, the height difference between the two making the action necessary for the white-haired Assassin. The apparent need for secrecy, even within the privacy of the bounded field encompassing the house, was surprising, but once the assassin's name slipped from her lips, it suddenly made sense, as well as her place in the poorly-named 'Throne of Heroes'. While a servant's true power stemmed from the name they take from their legends, few servants held the brutal, blood-covered reputation of the little girl currently resting on his Master's couch. His eyes gained an edged, predatory look out of reflex, before he caught himself and made himself relax a little. While the revelation was shocking, he reminded himself that the newly identified and ever-infamous Jack the Ripper was an ally, as opposed to an immediate threat to be hunted. "Your crimes are long past, what's done is done. I have no right to judge your actions over a century ago, nor would doing so change the past. Besides, My quarrel is not with your kind to begin with. I am a hunter of beasts, not a hunter of men." Taking a few steps closer towards the couch, He took off his weathered tricorn and ran a gloved hand through his blackish brown hair, a few streaks of greying silver making themselves known. He lowered his voice, so that only she could hear him but he wasn't quite whispering. "In the interest of full disclosure, it is only fair that I introduce myself properly. So, Ms. Jack the Ripper, my name is Doctor Abraham Van Helsing, Physician and Monster Hunter. A pleasure to be working with you." As he spoke, he placed the hat to his chest and gave her a small, polite bow, typical of the aristocrats of his time, or more accurately their time. He straightened up and slipped the hat back onto his head as James and Taka re-entered the room, waiting patiently for his own coffee to be placed on the table before seating himself and taking a sip of the unsweetened black coffee.
