G H O S T R I D E R
Marvin “Marv”, last name unkonwn, 37 (b. 1931) [sub]Vigilante based in Basin City, Maryland Active since approximately Fall 1965[/sub]

I'll admit I don't read a lot of comic books, western or otherwise. But in my youth I was handed about twenty comic books, and I always appreciated the aesthetics of those types of characters. As an adult, something that fascinates me about the western comic book heroes is how long they've managed to persist. The Naruto manga has been going since 1997, but batman has been around since 1939. While people complain about how long and drawn out Naruto's story arc is, no one complains about our caped crusader. I believe the reason for this is that many different writers have taken the character into their own hands and applied their own ideas to the character. Kind of what we're doing here, in a way. My take on Ghost Rider stays true to what most people know about him. He has a really fast bike, is covered in flames, fights with chains, and is all about serving vengeance to depraved monsters. Something I like especially about the character is that he/she isn't afraid to chase their target. Ghost rider doesn't reside in a single city, he will decide you need to die and chase you wherever you go. All of this I plan on keeping in tact. The biggest change to the character is that he isn't johnny Blaze, but is actually Marv. Yes, Marv from sin city. The herculean gladiator is granted audience with mephisto when he has a near death experience. The demon grants Marv the powers of the ghost rider in an attempt to get him to break free of his morals and transform Marv into exactly what he's scared of becoming: a mindless serial killer. To assist with this, Mephisto strips Marv of most of his memories, leaving the gladiator to struggle with his unusual condition. Design wise, Ghost rider wears a spiked trench-coat instead of his usual biker leather jacket. This probably doesn't need to be said, but ghost rider will be stripped of his immortality and god-mod level powers. I'm not even sure if he's going to have the Penance Stare at this point. (he probably will) Prior to 1965, Marv will be himself, a thug with an interesting moral code. But the present ghost rider is a haunted character with no past that wages war on evil just to keep himself sane. However, his past continues to trickle into his head as he meets old faces. As ghost rider and Marv both do a lot of moving around America, there are many opportunities to collab in the past and present with people the character could have run into. Ghost rider and Marv's “no nonsense,” borderline torturing take on serving justice also puts them at odds with kinder vigilantes and the police. Most of Marv's arcs will be based around the events that lead to his “death,” while ghost rider will continue to fight for both his sanity and his memories. But as Ghost Rider becomes more sure of himself, Mephisto will find other ways to to remove the ghost rider's stable footing, if he can't kill him first... He's fast, strong, and very durable. He doesn't need to breathe, eat, or sleep, and can pursue his prey as far as he needs to. Most bladed weapons slip right between his ribs, as he has no organs. While weapons like bullets, explosions, and hammers are more likely to hurt him, his bones are considerably stronger than that of the average man. His bones can mend themselves over time, but it can take hours or weeks depending on the severity of the damage. His scull, however, mends much slower than the rest of him. If it is crushed, it would surely extinguish the Ghost Rider. Hellfire: The ghost rider and his tools are all bathed in hellfire, making them impervious to heat or flames. They also emit a considerable amount of heat, which fluctuates depending on how angry ghost rider is. Subsequently, feelings of depression and guilt weaken his flames. At their hottest, his flames have been known to melt steel. While ghost rider can breathe flames, he can't reliably hit someone with it unless he's holding onto them. Enchanted chains: Ghost rider's primary weapon is an enchanted chain. Aside from always being as hot as his hellfire, he can control it when thrown, break it apart, and mend it back together. Enchanted motorcycle: Ghost rider wouldn't be a rider without his steed of steel. His motorcycle defies physics, being able to drive up vertical surfaces and is fast enough to drive across bodies of water. He can also use it to enter interdenominational rifts, whenever they may be present. The motorcycle can be stored in its own pocket rift and can be summoned to ghost rider's position at will. Human form: Ghost rider can revert back to a human, at which point he loses all of his powers, and his motorcycle behaves like a normal motorcycle. He does look like Marv in this form.

Dwight McCarthy : Former news photographer, struggling aggressive alcoholic, and currently a seedy private investigator. Dwight was one of Marv's best friends. Lucille: Marv's Former parole officer, but after having her left hand eaten by a cannibal, she was deemed unfit for duty and discharged from the police force. Another good friend of Marv's.

Just that at some point during the early 60's, Marv became ghost rider. This will likely get fleshed out better as the story starts to form.
