Mikayla is a rather petite mage who barely stands at 5"1, but she still has a habit of looking down on others. She has to at least spend thirty minutes on her long brown hair everyday, to make sure each curl or wave is exactly the way she wants it. Her grey eyes are often framed by long lashes, thanks to the power of mascara. Her pale complexion is possible because of her diligence, sunscreen, and a cute pink umbrella she totes on sunny days. Aside from mascara, blush, and lipstick, she doesn't put on too much make up because she thinks that it will ruin her already beautiful face. One could only begrudgingly admit she is pretty, but the same cannot be said about her personality.

Mikayla was self absorbed, yet somewhat talented. She might actually be a pretty quick learner if she applied herself more, at least, that is what her past teachers had written on her past report cards. She was also manipulative, selfish, and overall unlikable. The only people who would hang out with her are desperate guys who do her bidding, or girls who were both terrified and jealous of her, waiting to stab her in the back. However, she is surprisingly aware of her situation and makes the most of it. She makes sure that no one could get close to her and uses insults as a defense mechanism. 

But of course, underneath the confidence and iciness, is a lonely, insecure girl. Maybe... Somewhere? Like really, really deep down.

On a warm, humid July afternoon, the first and only child was born into the Iovine family. The baby was frail and sickly, but she was still better off than her mother who soon died after giving birth. The father, a semi-wealthy business man in the cosmetic industry, was heartbroken and scared. He had just lost his wife, but he might soon lose his daughter as well. Thankfully, after a few days in the hospital, her health began to improve. He named his beloved child, Mikayla, a reminder of his beautiful wife, Kayla. 

Kayla grew up in Maefeld for her entire life. Her father was often busy with business meetings and work, but she occupied her time with her cornucopia of toys. He would get her anything she wanted because she was the only family that she had. Growing up, she became proud of her looks because of the compliments given to her by her father's work associates and her caretakers. It especially made her happy to hear that she "looked exactly like her mother", a gorgeous model she only got to learn about in stories and from magazine photos.

When she started attending school, she used to be rather popular. She was a bright enough student to do well in her classes, pretty enough to attract attention from boys, and she was always dressed in the nicest clothes. Of course, with popularity comes jealousy. Many of the girls in her school disliked her but pretended to be her friends to get close to her. It took her a while to catch on that they were actually talking behind her back and secretly doing petty things like hiding her textbooks. Although, Mikayla was discouraged at first,  she did not take their meanness, lying down. While, it might have been better for her to confront her teachers about it, she began to give them a taste of their own medicine instead. She began to turn the girls against each other with lies, and it turned out their friendship was as superficial as they were. Learning her lesson, she decided that she would only use people to get what she wanted and to never let anyone close to her again. Friendship was only a weakness.

There was not a single person who had not heard about St. Fortuna's Academy for the Higher Arts. Mikayla, well aware of the prestige of the academy, was quite insistent on getting in. Her father was a bit hesitant at first, since it would be the first time Mikayla was away from home. But after much persuasion and begging on her part, he agreed with hopes that it would help her daughter mature in some way. He had hired the best tutors for her to help her write her essay, and prep her in general so she would be able to do well in the prestigious school. If she was able to maintain her grades and not get into trouble, she would be able to stay.
