Appreciate the list of positions.

@Irisity I'll probably include a section for "Homeworld" in the CS, and that can be filled in with information you consider relevant. I'll take suggestions for adventures and worldbuilding (pun unintended) less formally.

So do I!

Tell me, how alien can our aliens get?

Particularly, will it be an issue if my character is poisoned by oxygen? (He'll breath through a tank that contains the mix of chemicals he needs to survive, and keeps out oxygen)

@JeymaI think I'm drawing the line around "fantasy inspired" for aliens. Just for an example, an Elder Thing would be just about where I draw the line for a player character. The ability to infiltrate a non-Void-traveling population (ie generic humanoid body) shouldn't be underestimated.

So my character is good, then?

He'll probably be able to mask himself as a humanoid, just with a little difficulty. He's definitely not a humanoid, but he's capable of walking up right, so (as you'll see when we get the CS) he can bend and twist himself enough to look... humanish.

@Jeyma Your specific scenario I'm iffy about (sorry for forgetting to mention) for a couple of reasons. First is me wondering why am oxygen intolerant alien would inconvenience himself by joining a band of majority oxygen dependant aliens. Secondly that the Nova Dawn is an ancient relic, and would probably be a bitch to accommodate your character's specific needs if it was at all possible. Thirdly is I'm hesitant to go deep enough into "real" science to specify chemical elements such as oxygen, as opposed to classical elements like fire, air, etc.

Maybe something like an amphibious fishman that needs a rebreather would be more palatable.

@Dead Cruiser
Ew. No fishmen.

I'll drop the oxygen problem, if it really matters. He'll be a boring ole' oxygen-breather like the rest of you

OMG I come back to RPG to look for a game and I find one spearheaded by motherfucking @Dead Cruiser. I don't remember how I know you I just remember your awesome and something vague about transgender nature spirits.
Color me interested if there is room :U

I already have a loose idea for a character based on a world I haven't created yet involving a mesh of tech and magic so this is a good point to get my wheels turnin on the subject 8D

Edit:
I also call a position of Ship Archaeologist/ Wiseman/ Scientist. IDK, just someone super smart and a little scurry.

Edit #2:
While I can still edit, I assume sentient robots are okay?

I think I'll do a sneaky spy, as an unnamed steward once said: "a fellow pirate who can pass themselves off as something other than a pirate sounds like something that would be extremely useful" and who doesn't want sketchy back-room connections that may or may not try to murder you?

That steward sounds very sensible indeed, and wise, and is probably extremely attractive too.

On a related note, I am slowly piecing together what I'd want to do with a Steward. The crew will be able to eat whatever they like, providing it can be rendered down, shoved into a sausage casing and served in a bun. Truly, hot dogs are the pinnacle of culinary excellence.

Everyone!

Nah, jokes aside, I figure the character would be useful when the party crew need to have a little bit of tact when trying to procure something (like say a ship full of gold) or when some clever reconnaissance work needs to be undertaken. The way I see it, when you're doing potentially bad things (or even good things), sometimes you need someone who can fight and other times you need someone who can accomplish a task with the utmost discretion.

Another valuable trait of said character would be connections to people who deal in information. Say for example, a most beloved crew-member is captured, well how does the party crew find them? Perhaps, the mysterious spy can ask some old colleagues to ask the right people the right questions?

Who hired them?

Nominally, the spy would work for the Captain...although who knows? Can you ever trust a spy? :D

@Jeyma Just a thought I had while driving home from work that was sort of like this idea: an alien from a sunless world that must keep themselves cloaked in darkness, because the light eats away at their existence. Wears black robes everywhere and can pull cheeky shit in total darkness. I just wanted to throw this out there as a brief example of a race concept that I would be cool with.

@Irisity Workin on it, I promise.

@corneredbliss F'sho!

@FrozenEcstasy Lmao glad you remember the ONE POST that Honihaka was allowed into.

#1 Yeah that sounds fine. Maybe mix that with navigator, make them sort of an explorer/cartographer type?

#2 Also fine, but try to lean toward a Golem or Warforged sort of aesthetic.

@Hologram Prose Sounds good, plenty of room for a more traditional rogue among our, well, rogues.
