This is the worst teacher and the best teacher.

It doesn't teach anything, that makes it the worst.

But it's rooted directly into the ground the entire time, never taking a break, always working deep into the night behind the teacher's desk.

fruitless dedication.

This must be my English teacher, because they are a living poetic statement.
