So I should have a rookie character play like a professional because I should give my opponent a challenge, rather than have him purposefully make a mistake so he can learn and develop from there? Granted, I agree with the sentiment of trying to win, but everyone tries to win differently. I don't berate your way of thinking, by the way. I think it's a valid stance to have, just not one that I personally agree with. Play to win Vs. Playing for fun, and all.
A very legitimate opinion, one I understand very well too. I personally used to share that train of thought until I reached "higher levels". Not sure how to word it properly, but as I got better at the game I started noticing that a lot of people enjoyed me going all-out, even if that'd mean they'd have a poor chance of winning. Simply put, people feel like winning is less of an accomplishment to win if you hold back, which in turn reduces the satisfaction you'd normally get from winning. This is why I've decided to not hold back.
