[@Klomster] Only now do I see it! Nah Terra was not inspired by Warhammer, though it is a close match (everything you mentioned, plus badass armour for command units, and obscenely big tanks). 

Humans have definitely been around for over 300 years, a species that unrealistically self destructive would never achieve its current technological level in less than that. And we could always do with the classics.
