Civilization Name: The Lawless Sector Species Name: Space Pirates Member of the Galactic Conclave?: No Basic Description of Civilization: In a dark corner of the galaxy, there exists several light years of space that is considered to be too dangerous to travel through by all but the seediest of the galaxy's cutthroats, villains, and scoundrels. The galaxy at large has come to know this area of space as the Lawless Sector and do well to avoid it if they can. It is here that the galaxy's outcasts, criminals, and violent scumbags make their homes, hoard their loot, and plot all manner of space pirate activities. The pirates of the Lawless Sector are known across the galaxy for their annoying habit of somehow knowing when, where, and how something or someone valuable is being shipped by anyone anywhere in the galaxy, for their mastery of spaceship warfare, and for their frustrating ability to withstand all attempts at stamping them out. They also have a lot of disposable income from all their illicit business dealings and have access to any tech that they can steal. Despite their fearsome and intimidating reputation, the Lawless Sector's residents aren't without their weaknesses. The most prominent is their constant infighting. Pirates (being pirates) are always on the lookout for people with riches and power to steal from, and just because you're a pirate doesn't mean your safe from being attacked if you are considered a lucrative target. While they can set aside their differences in the face of a serious threat, the pirates will generally just fight among themselves if left alone. As a result the are unable to reach their full potential and aren't as big a threat as they could be most of the time. On top of this, money is also a pretty big motivator for any resident of the Lawless Sector. If you can pay high enough you could easily fend them off with a generous bribe rather than a fleet of battleships. You could even go so far as to pay the pirates into infighting even harder than usual if you were so inclined.
