Pull the first letter of Hailey's name from the periodic table and you get [H]ydrogen. Similar to the element, the girl is highly reactive. Any little thing can set her off. Fortunately, this characteristic hasn't been practiced negatively up to this point. While most people who are easily ticked off respond with anger, Hailey mostly gives an energetic reply. Whether it's impulsively jumping into action without forethought or enthusiasm for trying something new, the girl is ran by her intense emotions.

As an only child to simple parents, Hailey has lived a basic, cookie cutter life. Her parents emigrated from China during their early adolescence and met in college. Living in Indianapolis and having a dentist for a father and an accountant for a mother, the family of three made enough to live without worry but not to the point of luxury. The jobs her parents had weren't physically strenuous and received enough business they didn't have the stress that some other families had. Hailey grew up social enough with a few friends and a balance of support and criticism from her parents. She attended a decent school and made good grades and was a daughter that pleased her parents well enough. If she had been any meeker, she would have become a stereotype. But the minor bruises and scars that came from being reckless in her childhood and adolescence were sufficient testimony that she wasn't. Perhaps it was because of this simplicity that she yearns for adventure. She isn't particularly looking for a challenge, but no one said the two had to be mutually exclusive.

Hailey attended a nearby university and finally got to live a little from there. She wasn't permanently situated at fraternity parties or failing all her classes or anything of that sort. However, she did have a bit more freedom in dating and going out at night and what is college without a bit of alcohol? It was during the fall semester of her last year that she discovered her power. Finals were killing this girl and the material was just too damn hard to grasp and when the fuck had it turned three in the morning and she had a final she hadn't even [i]started[/i] trying to cram for in five hours. Deciding she was finished with whatever subject she had been staring at for the last six hours, she quite literally pushed the textbook aside and ducked down to grab her backpack to start on another mind numbing cram session. Feeling something pass over her head was the only warning she received before a loud smash resounded behind her and the lights went out. Her lamp had somehow flown across the room and smashed into the wall. It was dark, and that was weird. After a dazed and confused moment, Hailey entertained the possibility of a ghost attacking her and frantically stumbled and tripped her way to the light.

Giving up on studying for the rest of the night and going into her room altogether, she stayed up until it was time to leave for her exam. Naturally being spooked and sleep deprived and ill prepared could only lead to Hailey failing her test. However, a peculiar thing occurred toward the end. Practically falling asleep at the desk, when the brunette strained to open her eyes, her pencil was floating in front of her face. Startled, her small hand immediately grabbed for it while it sharply moved. Unfortunately, it flew into her palm and stabbed her shallowly. Of course it still hurt.

Knowing that this was somehow her responsibility, Hailey looked up the Coalition and contacted them. At this point, they were well known in their city and most areas of the country. Getting a plane ticket to Detroit, she discussed what was happening with her and was offered assistance. Deciding that this was her [i]true[/i] opportunity for adventure, Hailey dropped out of school with one semester left, moved to Detroit and joined the Coalition in their second year.

What the small girl lacks in verbal wit and intelligence, she makes up with excessive amounts of kindness and a hidden resourcefulness. Friendly and welcoming to most people she meets, Hailey is an easygoing person to be around. With certain people her naivety and inexperience with general life isn't such a bad thing. After all, that starry-eyed optimism and enthusiasm is somewhat infectious and some see it as sweet.

The ability to physically move and manipulate objects with one's mind. A pretty solid definition... except for the fact it fails to mention the influence of emotions has on the ability. The quick synapses that create every thought are difficult to control and any single idea - no matter how short it exists - influences the ability. For one to have control over the power and not the other way around, they must be intensely concentrated on one objective while still remaining aware of their surroundings, including their emotions.

[*][b][color=ff8fa0]Elemental Manipulation[/color][/b] - an imitation of the real power, telekinesis can only control an element if it is already there and the form it is in (e.g. turning water into ice). Telekinesis can still be used to create an element that isn't there (connecting wires around a pool of gas just might cause a fire)
[*][b][color=ff8fa0]Levitation[/color][/b] - to lift an object. This also allows the user to possess the false ability of flight

Immature. Hailey blindly rushes in, believing that taking care of the problem as quickly as possible is the best solution. It's unstable and reckless and more times than not she fails to see how her actions are more of a liability than helpful. Thankfully no major catastrophe has resulted from her actions yet. In some ways, Hailey is one of the most unreliable members of the Coalition.

She's not a complete loose canon and will listen to the orders she's given. However, if it's a one-on-one type of deal, all bets are off.

While most of the other Enhanced would use their powers as their main fighting source, Hailey relies on hers mostly as an afterthought. Not having quite mastered any part of her telekinesis, she decided to pick up other talents with weapons and close combat. She prefers projectiles and archery because she has a second chance if she misses by using her Enhanced ability.

Also, her hair will always be in some sort of braid when in battle.

Hailey isn't one to keep up with the latest fashion trends, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have style. Much like her personality, she likes to wear soft colors and comfortable clothes. Usually she can be found in a cute dress or skinny jeans and a long sleeve. Her height is 5'3.

She also has one of the brightest smiles. That's not meant to be taken figuratively. She literally has bright and white teeth. Would you expect any less from someone who has a father as a dentist?

Qiu Zhang - Father; an amicable enough relationship. Naturally he was the sterner, more traditional partner and wasn't too ecstatic when he found out that she would be giving up her education to pursue a dangerous... hobby. He doesn't believe it's a job if it's not a customary one. Although he has become accustomed and, in some ways, grew up with American culture, he is still very rooted to his family's customs and values. He believes his daughter should either make the most of the American dream or become a housewife and dedicate her life to a family. Feeling slightly guilty for having to put her parents through paying for her college (she only managed to receive partial scholarships and grants) only for it to be thrown away, Hailey sends at least half of her earnings from the job to them to try and pay them back. She doesn't need much since everything she could possibly want is in the watchtower. She tries to visit him and her mother at least once a month. However, with the latest situation, that might be difficult as their relationship has only gotten more strained. Qiu wants his daughter out of the danger now that the public has responded negatively.

Ai Zhang - Mother; There is very little past the surface between daughter and mother. Although Hailey takes most of her looks from Ai, there is nothing similar in personality. The older woman is content with having a place and role and fulfilling it, feeling no need to go outside or beyond that. However, the two have a loving bond. Whenever Qiu was too stern with their daughter, Ai would always comfort her and attempt to teach her instead of scold her. Hailey most likely learnt her kindness from her mother. She has never been afraid of her and always knows she can go to her mother in times of doubt. Also, she learned how to be a great cook from Ai and uses that to cook for the rest of her family (the Coalition) a lot.

The Coalition - while some might not see Hailey close enough to be family (or even a friend), she cares for all of them in some shape or form. She's usually the one who will attempt to throw a birthday party for whomever's is coming up.
