The Omnic threat had subsided, but they could shield the new, budding future that held neither hate nor prejudice. In the shadows, their sister organisation, Blackwatch, thrived. Someone had to be willing to get their hands (and reputation) dirty in the name of peace. The criminal element seeking redemption by working for Overwatch in spirit, if not in name, was often criticised as being unstable, unreliable and undesirable, but the dangerous jobs were completed, whatever the cost. This equilibrium could not last forever. A series of suspicious events led to a loss of UN funding, then the trust of the people, and then even its leaders in the catastrophic destruction of the Zürich base. Everything that the organisation had worked so hard to achieve crumbled away, and the world was cast back into darkness. Once upon a time, there were heroes. But where are they now?
