So I just joined and I have a question, I see that some of the squad roles are filled by NPCs but would it be possible for me to create an OC that replaces one of the NPCs roles? I was thinking of having the OC I'm making join the Silver Tigers but I want to make an Assault but the squad already has an NPC Assault.

That is one issue that I've been debating on. XCOM is currently flying personnel that were enlisted as reserves in case of the alien invasion. If you have that you are sort of the new guy (though you have combat experience) I would have no issue with adding you to the squad.
