I think his dad was on a mission or something? But his mom would be cute, finally someone other than Sakura who has embarrassing parents. Though maybe if Sakura is in danger or hurt or kidnapped, he might lose his shit? 

Ino and Naruto would just randomly show up in random places. Maybe Naruto and Ino were gonna make out in Shikamaru's room for some reason and Sakura and Shikamaru kick them out. Ino and Naruto would get up to random shanangins for sure.
